Janne Rumbough's U.S-Bred PRE Junior Passed Away

American Grand Prix rider Janne Rumbough said goodbye to her penultimate international Grand Prix horse Junior. 

Junior was a 22-year old PRE gelding by Rumbough's imported PRE Grand Prix stallion Gaucho III out of La Nina III (by Brioso VI). Junior was bred by Kaye-Eddie Lanys at Gremlan Farms.

Janne Rumbough, the grand dame of dressage in Florida, took the grey gelding from young horse level to international Grand Prix.

She started showing him nationally in 2007 as a 5-year old. Their international show debut was in 2012 at small tour level at the CDI West Palm Beach. Their Grand Prix debut followed in 2013 also in West Palm Beach. Janne competed him at the Global Dressage Festival at big tour level from 2013 till 2018. The pair were trailblazers in the amateur classes in Wellington.

In their career they garnered national PRE Grand Prix championships titles from 2013 through 2015.They won the 2014 U.S. Dressage Finals Adult Amateur Grand Prix freestyle title.

Retirement

Janne retired Junior after his last CDI in Wellington on 14 January 2018. Janne continued to compete PRE stallion Armas Zumbel for one more year. 

Junior spent his life at Janne's MTICA farm in Wellington, Florida. The abbreviation stands for More Than I Can Afford.   Janne announced the horse's passing on 18 December 2024. 

"The Wind of Heaven is that, which blows through a horses ears," she wrote. "Thank you Junior for 23 years of great and happy times together."
