After seven years working in Bavaria, German professional rider Matthias Bouten is moving back to the north of Germany.

As of March 2025 he and his partner Vicent Arroyo will be working out of Sabine Haag Molkenteller's Gestut Hohekamp in Dorsten.

"After seven wonderful and successful years in Bavaria, we are moving back to our (German) homeland," Bouten announced. "We could no longer ignore the feeling of homesickness inside us. So from March 1st we are back in Northrhine Westfalia.

Bouten started his career as an assistant rider for Isabell Werth. He also worked for Freiberger Hof, went independent at Stable Giesen, and in 2016 rode for Ferienhof Stucker.

In May 2018 he became head rider at Meggle Stable where his international career flourished. In May 2022 he resigned and went independent at stable Bell near Munich.

In January 2023 he began riding for Gestut Pramwaldhof in Austria, competing Astrid Neumayer's horses Fineline, Bonderas, Knock-Out, Bamboo and Quaterline, and Grand Prix horse Zap Zap. His last international start was in June 202' in Brno on Zap Zap, Nikki Lauda, and Bellagio.  He left Pramwaldhof in September 2024.

Bouten then very briefly rode for Thomas Ritzinger, but the new collaboration was not a match.

Bouten has now decided to return "home" to NRW. The last horses he competed in October and November were his partner's Rockarroyo Mm (by Rock for Me x Royal Classic), Mo (by Morricone x Superstar), and Christian Goldmann's Friendly Hunting's Vega (by Valverde x Furst Romancier) at M and S level.
