German professional dressage rider Matthias Bouten has left his part-time employer of almost two years, Astrid Neumayer's Gestut Pramwaldhof, and picked up a new client.

Bouten started his career as an assistant rider for Isabell Werth. He then left her for Freiberger Hof after which he went independent at Stable Giesen, where got some of Austrian Marianne Jerich's horses to ride. That collaboration ended in 2016. Bouten then picked up horses from Ferienhof Stucker.

In May 2018 he became the head rider at Meggle Stable and received a string of horses which opened doors to international competition. In May 2022 he resigned and went independent again at stable Bell near Munich.

In January 2023 he began riding half-time for Gestut Pramwaldhof in Austria. He competed Neumayer's horses Fineline, Bonderas, Knock-Out, Bamboo and Quaterline, and even Grand Prix horse Zap Zap.

In June 2024 Finnish Terhi Stegars joined the expanding team at Pramwaldhof.

Yesterday Pramwaldhof announced Matthias' departure on social media.  Eqwo.net reported that Bouten has decided to drop the job and accepted a new client, Thomas Ritzinger. He can now save time on the commute to Austria as Ritzinger is based closer to his home.
