Luxembourg professional dressage rider Kristine Møller-Engel has returned to the international arena with horses owned by Gestut Peterhof.

Møller went through a difficult period of transition when she and her employer of almost twenty years, Gestut Pallerhof, parted ways in September 2024.

From Denmark to Luxembourg

The Danish born Luxembourg rider started her professional career as an assistant for Fie Skarsoe at Gestut Wiesenhof in Krefeld, before moving to Niederpallen (LUX) to ride at Jens Thorsen's Pallerhof in 2005.

With his horses she competed at the World Young Horse Championships eight times: in 2007, 2011, 2016, 2017, 2019,  2021, 2022 and 2023. She competed at international Grand Prix level in 2014 and 2015.

Landing on Her Feet

While the transition was difficult, Møller has now landed on her feet with her own business in Reckenthal in Luxembourg. She has welcomed several clients including the high profile Gestüt Peterhof, owned by Edwin and Arlette Jasper-Kohl.

Kristine returned to CDI competition on Monday at the CDI Aachen Dressage Days, where she showed two Peterhof horses. She rode the Oldenburg gelding Senor (by Sezuan x Rubin Royal) in the 7-year old classes and was fifth in the preliminary test (69.907%) and fourth in the finals test (73.572%).

Aboard the 10-year old Bon Gregoria PS (by Bon Bravour x Don Gregory) she rode the small tour and placed fifth in the Prix St Georges (67.990%) and sixth in the Intermediaire I (66.226%). The dark bay was first shown by Nicole Wego who competed her at the 2019 Bundeschampionate, where she finished 11th. Three months later the mare sold at the 2019 PSI Auction in Ankum to Jasper-Kohl for 320,000 euro and the ride was given to Sascha Schulz, who won silver at the 2020 Luxembourg Young Horse Championships with her.

Kristine trains on her own, but has received some sporadic help from Eva Möller and Patrik Kittel.

Dalara

When asked if Kristine has any horses of her own, she told Eurodressage she is particularly hopeful of the 4-year old Dalara, a full sister to double Olympic champion Dalera.

Kristine purchased her in utero together with Dalera's late breeder, Silke Druckenmüller. Dalara is an ICSI foal as dam Dark Magic could no longer carry foals herself. The ICSI project was handled in The Netherlands and sold in utero with the recipient mare at the 2020 Studutch Online Auction for 17,000 euro to the duo.

"She is such an intelligent and beloved mare," Kristine beamed. "Dalara was born at Silke Druckenmüller's stable and lived the first 3 1/2 years on the fields at Silke's.  After Silke unfortunately passed far too early, I bought the rest of Dalara from Silke’s husband Thorsten Druckenmüller. I broke her in last summer and she did her mare registration in Rheinland-Saarland and Luxembourg which she won. Then she went on the field again.. She is still in the field at  the moment as we are trying to make an embryo but will start her up again in one month."

Kristine added, "I just love that mare. She is a special one."
