Dressprod reported that the licensed breeding stallion and internationally competed French junior riders horse Ronaldo has passed away. He was 30 years old.

Ronaldo was a 1995 born Oldenburg by Rubinstein out of Carella (by Ramino x Weltmeister). He was bred by Franz Josef Niemöller.

Licensing Champion

Ronaldo has a full brother, Rubin Star N, who is licensed and competed at the WCYH, and a full sister Rendezvous, who was the 2001 Bundeschampion.

Ronaldo was the champion of the 1997 Oldenburg stallion licensing in Oldenburg. He sold at auction for the whopping amount of 420,000 Deutsch Marks to the Dutch couple Hans and Ingrid Rhebergen.

He did his 100-day stallion performance test in October 1999 in Neustadt/Dosse and scored an index of 120.38 points, which ranked him 7th. He scored 121.36 for dressage (5th) and 108.48 for show jumping (20th).

He has 59 offspring registered for sport in Germany of which Reve Noir (by Ronaldo x Hurricano) competed at the highest level, in Germany and Luxembourg, up to medium tour level with Dominique Reuter-Bücker.

The Rhebergens brought the stallion to The Netherlands and sold half in 2000 to Cok Mudde of Magic Stables. As of then, the stallion went by the name Magic Ronaldo.

Edward Gal trained and competed him from young horse level to small tour and Ronaldo. In 2002 Gal competed him in the 7-year old class at the Zwolle International Stallion Show and in 2003 they reached small tour level. They showed until 2004 after which Ronaldo no longer competed but just stood up for stud until 2010.

Ronaldo got KWPN approved in February 2001 after a shortened performance test  and actually produced a significant amount of offspring in that time, with over 529 (!!) offspring registered with KWPN between 2000 and 2010. One of them became KWPN licensed (Ungaro, out of a Pion dam, he sold for 18,000 euro to Ad Valk in the KSS), one IHW licensed (Raphael L aka Waldemar), 11 daughters were named elite mare with KWPN, 6 are keur mares. The colt foal Wandurel (by Ronaldo x Weltmeyer) became the auction price record setter in 2003 at the Prinsjesdag foal auction, selling for 44,000 euro to Primeval BV. This foal was NRPS foal champion but was rejected at the 2005 KWPN licensing.

From this batch of foals several became successful in the international arena, including the international Grand Prix horse S.Rappe (Michal Rapcewicz), Urbanus (Anne Marie Dunphy), and small tour horses zanzibar (Claudia Costas Nijhoff,) Veno L (Marie Pettersson), Versace (Micha Knol), Wunderschon (Marianne Stankie), Adiel van W (Lucretia Galbraight), and Belle Amie (Jessie Kirby).

France

Ronaldo sold to France in 2010 and came in the hands of Camille Judet Cheret, who showed him for a year at young riders level at CDI's, amongst them in Biarritz, Paris, and Leudelange. Their last CDI was Zwolle in 2011.

They sold the horse to Florian Aubin as a junior riders' prospect. He competed the horse internationally in 2012 and 2013 at junior level in Compiegne, Saumur, Vidauban, and Moorsele.  Aubin quit international competition sport at the end of 2013 when his time with Ronaldo concluded. Aubin is now based in the USA as a representative for a saddle company.
