The Hanoverian breeding stallion Dauphin has passed away. He was 26 years old.

Dauphin was a 1999 born stallion by Donnerhall out of Fabia (by Feiner Stern x Pik Ramiro). He was bred by American Maxine Mickel of Marefield Meadows in Warrenton, VA, USA.

Germany

The black stallion was accepted for breeding at the 2001 Hanoverian stallion licensing in Verden and Mickel initially leased him to the Landgestut Celle.

He did a 300-day stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 2002 and scored 115.44 index points, which ranked him 10th out of 50 participating stallions. He got 125.13 for dressage and 99.17 for show jumping. In 2004 he was approved for the Oldenburg studbook

He was only briefly competed between 2003 and 2005 by three different riders. He was first shown in 2003 in the 4-year old riding horse tests by Daniela Ohlrogge. In 2004 he did not compete but returned in 2005 at M-level for two shows: one under Wolfhard Witte and one under Susanne Ersil.

An injury to his pelvis sidelined him from sport, but he continued to be presented in-hand during the stallion parades.

Canada

Through Dr. Christmann Dauphin sold to Ruth Hanselpacker's breeding farm "Aileron stables" in Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2015.

Dauphin was a stable mate of stallions Frienscout II (by Furst Fugger x Wolkentanz II), Rapture R (by Rotspon x Donnerhall), and Blue Hors Rockefeller (by Rohdiamant x Grundstein II). The latter was previously with Jen Arnoldt at Dreamscape farm in Canada.

Legacy

According to the FN database, Dauphin has 406 offspring active in sport of breeding in Germany, although the Hanoverian stallion book of 2024 mentions he has 595 Hanoverian registered offspring.

His most famous offspring is probably Deja Vu Tyme (Evi Strasser),  Don Presidente (Kazuki Sado, Imke Schellekens-Bartels), Die Feine (Tamara Lucia Roos), Dexter S (Tami Batts),  Dauphin also sired a handful of international eventing horses, including Dike Runner.

He sired 20 state premium daughters and 9 licensed sons (Dallmeyer, Deklan, Der Weg, Dexy's Midnight Runner, Dheputy, Disco Dave, Don Klassik, Don Presidente, Dufy).
