2025 Dutch Young Pont Championships

The 4-year old Hania's Xavi RSP, the 5-year old No Limit WS, and the 6-year old Geronimo Taonga became the winners of their respective divisions at the 2025 Dutch Young Pony Championships in Lathum on 6 September 2025.

The Dutch Young Pony Championships is not directly organized by the Dutch equestrian federation (KNHS) but rider membership is required. Six qualifiers were held between June and August before the Finals in Lathum. It is open to all young ponies that are registered in a Dutch pony studbook or licensed in The Netherlands.

The classes were judged by Floor Dröge and Thamar Zweistra.

4-YO: Hania's Xavi RSP

Fifteen combinations contested the 4-year old division and Dutch pony team rider Esmae Niessen piloted the bay Dutch Welsh pony stallion Hania’s Xavi RSP (by Jonkers' Jayden x Wengelo's Ricardo) to gold and the title with 84.5 points. The stallion got 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 9 for canter, 8 for harmony, and 8.5 for general impression and conformation./

Former Dutch pony team rider Maddy Dijkshoorn placed second on the German bred and Dutch Welsh pony registered Mr Duke (by Dating x Dream of Lord) with 84 points. Two ponies scored 81.5 points, but it was Bo Leijten on the black Welsh pony Lincoln van den Hout (by Sloot's Sir Thor x De Goede Ree's Alwin) who got the bronze with after a tie-break.

5-YO: No Limit WS

Twelve ponies competed in the 5-year old finals and Dutch team rider Bo Leijten piloted the German bred and NRPS licensed No Limit WS (by FS Numero Uno x Dreidimensional AT) to the title with 87 points. The gelding got 8.5 for walk, and canter, 9 for trot, 9 for harmony and general impression and 8.5 for conformation.

The silver was also for Leijten with last year's 4-year old champion, the chestnut Dutch bred Welsh pony Perfect Lightfeet (by Coelenhage’s Handsome King x ??). This time they were second with 86.5 points. Fay van den Broek and the German bred and NRPS registered mare Reality Dream KH (by Cosmo Callidus x Can Dance) finished third with 82.5 points.

6-YO: Geronimo Taonga

There were 8 finalists in the 6-year old division and the German Riding Pony bred and NRPS licensed palomino stallion Geronimo Taonga (by Golden West out of Sanne Gilbers' Dutch European championship team pony (Baumanns) Daylight (by FS Don't Worry x Rosedale Tiberius)) became the winner. Bred by Willeke Bos of Stal 104 in The Netherlands, Geronimo was first licensed in 2021 with the Westfalian studbook before getting NRPS approval in 2022. He is owned by Lars Pronk en Esther van den Berg van Pronk Stables, who bought the stallion as a yearling.

Under the 14-year old Stella Johnson Geronimo Taonga won the 6-year old title with a total of 90 points. He got 8.5 for walk, 9 for trot, 9.5 for canter, 9 for harmony, 9.5 for general impression and 8.5 for conformation. Johnson took over the ride on the palomino from Bridget Lock.

The silver medal was for Valerie Rademakers aboard the Dutch Welsh pony mare CS Horses Charena (by Nijebert's Marc x Veenstra's Grapjas) with 80 points, while Britt Goedhardt and the NRPS stallion Night Prince (by Nightfever II x Orchard's Red Prince) finished third with 77,5 points. He is bred by Jessica van den Berg and owned bny D. Doleweerd and R. Reurings.
