Margaret Duprey of Cherry Knoll Farm has split from her long-time Todd Flettrich.  Duprey decided to go in a new direction and hired Codi Harrison to take Todd's place.

Todd Flettrich

A native of New Orleans and raised in Louisiana, Flettrich was shaped by Sue Malone Casey and Jessica Ransehousen.  Flettrich was a working student for Gwen Stockebrand in California in the summer of 1986 and for Casey at her farm in Atlanta in 1987. He went to train with Jessica Ransehousen after graduating high school in 1988. He won individual gold and team silver in the 1991 North American Young Riders Championships.

In 1999 Flettrich rode for Kathy Connelly in Massachusetts, and in 2000 he took four horses to train with Steffen Peters and Christine Traurig in California. At the end of the 1990s he had closed ties with Mary Alice Malone at Iron Spring Farm in Coatesville, PA, and competed Juventus and Akatschi for her, as well as taught her daughters Mary Alice Jr and Catherine Malone.

Flettrich made his Grand Prix debut in 2004 with three horses: Jaguar, Kinnaras, and Notorious. In 2005 Cherry Knoll Farm bought Amadeus for Flettrich to ride after Todd began teaching Duprey in 1999. It was the beginning of their double-decade long collaboration.

Otto

Flettricht's career-making ride was Margaret Duprey's Otto, a Danish warmblood gelding (by Ramba x Rampal) which she bought from Heather Blitz in December 2008. Cherry Knoll gave him the opportunity to train with Hubertus Schmidt in Germany and Todd campaigned Otto at international Grand Prix level from 2009 till 2012, riding him at all the big shows in the U.S.A. as well as in Europe (Aachen, Hamburg). They represented the U.S.A. at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington and were reserve U.S. Grand Prix Champions that year. They were the alternates for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, but Otto was retired from sport after the last selection trial and Heather Blitz ended up taking that spot with Paragon and travelling to Europe.

Flettrich coached American para rider Rebecca Hart at the Paralympics in London aboard Jessica Ransehouden's Lord Ludger (by Lord Calando x Lenz). Hart went to the 2014 WEG and 2016 Paralympics in Rio on Margaret Duprey's Schroeters Romani (by Lobster x Come Back II).

Career After Otto

Flettrich continued his international career on Duprey's Danseur (by Dr. Jackson S x Acatenango xx) and Sopranos (by Come Back II x Limelight) with his last international start being the CDI Wellington in February 2013.

Todd struggled with health issues, fracturing two vertebra falling off a horse and he suffered a heart attack two years later. Fortunately he fully recovered and has kept on riding. Between 2016 and 2021 he occasionally showed Duprey's Betty (by ?), Davinci S (by Jazz x Furst Heinrich), Elzemarein E (by Tango x Flemmingh) and Scavi Noir (by Sir Donnerhall x Fidermark)

In the past four years, however, Flettrich has done limited competing. He has only shown two horses lightly between 2022 and 2025: 13-year old Hanoverian mare Dancing Girl B (by Dancier x Rubin Royal) at national small tour level and the 13-year old PRE bred Sublime Nadales (by Correpoco PLC x Manzanero) at Grand Prix level.

A New Chapter

A new chapter has started for Cherry Knoll Farm as Duprey decided to part ways with 54-year old Flettrich.  Codi Harrison has joined the team as the head dressage trainer and rider.

"With her appointment, Cherry Knoll Farm is revitalizing its commitment to competing at the highest level of international dressage," Duprey stated. "We aim to achieve new heights in both national and international competition."

Harrison stated, "I am thrilled to join the team that Margaret has carefully crafted, and I share the team’s common, and very ambitious, goals. From just my first few interactions at the farm, it is clear that everyone involved puts the horses first and it’s a collaborative effort from all. I am so grateful to be here and looking forward to all that lies ahead!"

The 29-year old Harrison is a student of Lars Petersen and has worked for Helgstrand U.S.A. under Petersen and Melissa Taylor's supervision, as well as ridden clients horses. Her career-building horse has been the now retired Katholt's Bossco, who took her to the 2016 and 2017 North American Young Riders Championships, gold at the 2018 U.S. Under 25 Championships, and team gold at 2023 Pan American Games.

The Wellington based Flettrich has now moved to a different barn and continues to ride and teach as an independent agent. "I do not have a top horse but have clients," he told Eurodressage. "I am in shock a bit, but it will be all good. I'm working on (doing) more clinics."
