Austrian Grand Prix rider Diana Porsche has declared for Hungary. When her FEI maternity leave ends on 1 February 2026, she will be competing with the Hungarian flag on her saddle pad.
Eqwo broke the news today.
Porsche issued a press release to the Austrian press during the CDI Salzburg. "After careful consideration, I have decided to embark on a new path and will continue my career under the Hungarian flag," she said. "The support and trust of the Hungarian Federation made this step possible, and I am proud to be able to ride for Hungary."
With this nationality change Austria loses on of its strongest Grand Prix riders even though Porsche was never selected on the Austrian senior Grand Prix team since moving out of the youth ranks in 2022. At the start of 2025, she was ranked 46th in the world as the second-highest ranked Austrian rider.
The 29-year old Porsche began her international career as a junior rider on Florencia (by Furst Heinrich x Ferman) in 2013. She competed at the 2013 and 2014 European Junior Riders Championships, the latter on Eloy (by Earl x Wendenburg), and jumped straight into the Under 25 division in 2015 with Di Sandro (by De Niro x Sandro) as well as rode at Young Riders level that year. She was trained by Dieter Laugks at the time. She went to the 20215 European Young Riders Championships. She headed to the 2016 European Under 25 Championships in Hagen, where she won kur bronze.
Porsche began working with Leida Collins Strijk and four more Euros followed in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. The latter two she rode on Douglas (by Johnson x Lancet).
She has been riding as a senior rider as of 2022 across the levels with a string of top horses. Trained by Diederik Wigmans for the past three years, Diana has two top Grand Prix horses in Dahoud and Dujardin's medal winner Imhotep, with whom she is set to make her show debut in 2026.
Porsche gave birth to son Leonardo, on 17 October 2025.
