The KWPN licensed stallion Omar Sharif has been sold to the U.S.A.. One day after his national debut at Prix St Georges level, the stallion boarded a plane to cross the Atlantic.
Omar Sharif is a 7-year old Dutch warmblood stallion by Escamillo out of Khloé (by Ferguson x De Niro). He is bred by Rom Vermunt.
Oldenburg Licensed
Bred and owned by Vermunt the black partly sold to Stal Brinkman after the pre-selection for the 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing. At the actual licensing, Omar Sharif was named premium stallion. He did not do a performance test in The Netherlands so is not KWPN licensed.
He was licensed with the Oldenburg society. He did the shortened suitability test in Vechta in April 2022 and scored 7,42 points? In 2023 he did the sport test in Munster-Handorf and scored 7,09 points.
So far he has sired 128 foals registered KWPN. In Germany there are 4 offspring registered with the German Equestrian Federation (but that is not a final number of all breed societies).
Most recently the black stallion was produced to FEI level by Dutch based Spaniard Moisés Jover Azuar. He debuted the stallion in the PSG.
Sold to the U.S.A.
The black stallion has now been sold to the U.S.A. and will continue his sport career with Gwen Blake.
The 64-year old Blake represented the USA at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana on Juvel. She last competed internationally in 2016 with Beyonce (by Contango x Gribaldi). Nationally she showed through 2025 with young horse Bonnie (by Bonds x Don Schufro).
