The Pengg family, an Austrian dressage horse breeding and riding family, have given a new horse to Austrian Paralympic champion Pepo Puch. Eqwo reported that Puch has received the ride on Pengg's 8-year old mare Secret Love.
Secret Love is an Oldenburg mare by San Amour out of Farbenfrohe (by Furst Heinrich). She is bred by Paul Schockemöhle at Gestut Lewitz.
She is currently owned by Ägyd and Claudine Pengg of equestrian centre and brood farm "Pferde von Auheim". Daughter Chiara Pengg is an Austrian youth team rider who has moved her way up from ponies to Under 25.
Secret Love has been trained by Stephanie Dearing and Christian Schumach. She has only recently been matched to Pepo Puch who made his show debut on her last weekend at the CPEDI Genemuiden (NED) on 14 - 17 December 2023. The pair placed fifths in the Grade II GP A test (69.598%), and fourth in the GP B and Kur test (70.056% and 71.167%).
Puch is Austrian-Croatian and competed at the 2004 Olympics for Croatia in eventing with Banville D'Ivoy. He finished 63rd. A freak riding accident in 2008 left him with incomplete paraplegia. Since then he has won gold at the 2012 and 2016 Paralympics and silver at the 2021 Paralympics. He has had a string of para horses over the years starting with Good Boy's Feeling, followed by Fine Feeling S, Grandezza P, Fontainenoir, Dynamic Dream, Sailor's Blue, Rufus, and Furst Chili.
