Dutch Junior Lara van Nek Gets Ride on Jatilinda

Dutch junior rider Lara van Nek has obtained the ride on her mother's highly decorated KWPN mare Jatilinda.

The 6-year old Dutch warmblood mare is by All at Once out of Atilinda (by Negro x Krack C x Contango). She is bred and owned by Willeke Bos of Stal 104.

In 2017 the black mare was named the KWPN Mare Champion, one of the biggest titles a mare can earn at KWPN breed shows.

Bruntink and Jatilinda

For the past three years Jatilinda was trained and competed by professional Vai Bruntink.

They kicked off their show career by winning the 2018 Horsefood Dressage Talent Competition in Berkel-Enschot and finished 13th at the 2018 Pavo Cup Finals.

In 2019 she was fourth in the Pavo Cup Finals and represented the KWPN at the World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, where she placed 13th in the 5-year old consolation finals with a score of 7.86 points.

The duo was long-listed for Dutch team selection for the 2020 World Young Horse Championships, but ended up not being picked on the team.

Junior Horse for Van Nek

Dutch pony and junior rider Lara Van Nek has now taken over the rode on Jatilinda.

"In first instance Lara would take on the ride after the Pavo Cup (which have been postponed due to corona), but we mutually agreed not to wait for that," said Bruntink. "Lara has been riding her for two weeks and they make a beautiful combination."

The 16-year old Van Nek has already built up an impressive show record at her young age with a plethora of horses and ponies to ride.

She competed ponies Dream Dancer, Haasendonck's Sultan, Brouwershaven Nairobi and Baumann's Despino in the Pony classes and Fariska and Amazing Comeback (the show name of Jatilinda's dam Atilinda) in the Children and junior classes. She represented Holland at two European Children Championships and this year won team bronze at the 2020 European Pony Championships.
