An outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus-1 has been reported in the internationally acclaimed dressage stable "Schindlhof" of Austrian Evelyn Haim-Swarovski.

Pferderevue reported that 14 out of 40 horses have been infected with two being ill with high fever. The infections were confirmed via PCR tests.

There have been no visiting horses at Schindlhof, nor were any of horses transported to different locations to have come in contact with EHV-1.

Klaus Haim told the Tiroler Tageszeitung that all horses are vaccinated every six months, with their last vaccination on 26 January 2021.

Schindlhof has acted swiftly. All infected horses have been isolated and since Monday there have been no new infections.
