Russian Irina Zakhrabekova has sold her second Grand Prix horse, DSP Quadroneur, to Israëli Under 25 rider Sarah Bamberger.

Quadroneur is a 14-year old Brandenburger bred gelding by Quaterback out of Pirouette (by Sandro Hit x Fruhlingsbote x Adept).

Licensed stallion

Bred at the Brandenburger state stud, Quadroneur was licensed as a 3-year old stallion in Prussendorf in February 2010.

He did his 30-day stallion performance test at his home base in Neustadt/Dosse in November 2010 and scored 8.34 for dressage and 7.80 for show jumping, totalling 8.24 points.

He was first competed by Christian Flamm in 2010 through 2011. In 2012 Susann Göbel continued the stallion's development and in 2014 it was Stephanie Fiedler's turn. They all competed the horses mainly at regional shows up the levels. In 2015 Fiedler and Quadroneur reached small tour level and in 2016 rode the Werder qualfiier for the Nurnberger Burgpokal. They also rode in one international class, the Prix St Georges at the 2016 CDI Cappeln, where they were fifth with 67.447%

Sold to Bulgaria

In 2017 the stallion sold to the Bulgarian company Kleo Eood, led by Russians Eduard and Agata Zakhrabekova. He was gelded to be focused on sport.

Zakhrabekova discovered Quadroneur in Isabell Werth's barn, where he was in training. The Spanish based Russian rider trained with Jose Antonio Garcia Mena at the time, who also collaborates with Werth.

Irina made her international show debut on Quadroneur at small tour level at the 2017 CDI Lisbon and competed him in 2018 in Segovia and Cappeln. In 2019 they did one more CDI at small tour level in Seville before moving up to medium tour level at the CDI Cascais. In 2020 they did their first international Grand Prix in Cascais, right before the corona outbreak. It was the pair's last show together.

Sold to Israel, Quadroneur Joins Badari

The Israeli born Sarah Bamberger has become the new owner of Quadroneur. The sale was brokered through her trainer Imke Schellekens-Bartels, who tried him out at Helgstand Germany.

Zakhrabekova decided to sell her number two Grand Prix horse as she is squad listed with Armas Balago II and wants to focus on him.

"Everything is so unsure now with COVID, shows, Olympic Games, European Championships," Irina told Eurodressage. "I am in the team with Armas, so I have decided to better focus on young horses. Q will be happy with an Under 25 rider."

Bamberger now has two Grand Prix horses in her barn.

In 2019 she started off with the Dutch Grand Prix horse Theodoor (by Metall) which she got on loan feom Kim Schmid as a schoolmaster, but who is now retired. In 2020 Bamberger bought Danielle Heijkoop's internationally competed Badari (by Gribaldi x Damocles).

From the Kibbutz in Israel to Dressage Yards in Holland

Bamberger grew up in Israel and began riding at the age of 2. Her grandparents came from Hanover, Gemany, as World War II refugees.

Sarah with Der Kleine Prinz in Israel
Sarah has dual citizenship and represented Germany at the 2013 Maccabi Games at age 15. She has been competitive in Israel since 2008 and has been coached by Sivan Sat. Aboard the black Der Kleine Prinz (by Don Frederico x Weltmeyer), which she bought from Heinrich Brahler in Germany in 2014, Sarah became a dressage competition winner.

"I grew up in Haifa and started riding at the local riding school in Kibbutz Yagur and then moved to Ramat Yohanan, a livery stable where I could train with my long time trainer from Israel Sivan Sat," Bamberger told Eurodressage. "Der Kleine Prinz and I have won three Israeli championships in a row and received more titles together."

In 2018 she moved to Europe to pursue a career in riding.

She began riding Theodoor with Kim Schmid and Daniel Mosterdijk until the horse's retirement from sport at age 21. Sarah also got coached by Danielle Heijkoop when she bought Badari. Sarah is now working with Imke Schellekens-Bartels. Imke and her husband Joep scouted Quadroneur for her.

Bamberger is looking awaiting to return of competitions after Covid-19 and the EHV-1 outbreak.

"I have not competed much in Europe," she said. "It took some time to find my place in Europe and afterwards COVID-19 hit. My last two competitions were with Theodoor in September 2020 in the Inter 2, placing second in both (shows) and with Badari I have ridden a practice show in September 2020 in the inter 2 and received nice comments from the judge."
