Dujardin and Merrald Wrap up 2021 CDI Hagen with Final Two Victories

Charlotte Dujardin and Nanna Skodborg Merrald became the winners of the last two international dressage classes hosted at the 2021 CDI Hagen at Hof Kasselmann. The CDI 4* Hagen took place from 22 to 25 April 2021.

The 2021 edition of "Horses and Dreams" was named the "sports edition" as it was held behind closed doors to follow strict corona hygiene rules imposed by the German government and FEI.

Dujardin and Gio Dance to Kur Victory

The longest competition day was Saturday with classes from early in the morning till midnight.

The Grand Prix Kur to Music was held under floodlight Saturday night and the last rider rode onto the centerline at 23h30.

After claiming victory in the Grand Prix for Kur on Thursday, Charlotte Dujardin (GBR) had no difficulties riding her number two in the barn, Gio to another first place in the freestyle. The Dutch warmblood gelding, who is amicably known as Pumpkin for his chestnut colour, performed to Valegro's How to Train a Dragon music and scored a winning 84.040%.

Home side hero Frederic Wandres (GER) landed second place with Duke of Britain (by Dimaggio x Rubinstein). Riding to funky high energy disco music, they scored 82.855%.

Denmark's Nanna Skodborg Merrald (DEN) and the seasoned Dutch warmblood stallion Blue Hors Zack (by Rousseau x Jazz) were third with 82.25%.

Consolation Victory for Atterupgaards Orthilia

On Sunday morning, the last CDI Grand Prix class at 4* level took place in the Almased Dressage Stadium.

The Danish national anthem was played during the award ceremony: Nanna Skodborg-Merrald and Atterupgaards Orthilia (by Gribaldi x Donnerschlag) won the Prize of Roeckl Sporthandschuhe GmbH & Co. KG, ahead of compatriot Daniel Bachmann Andersen with Marshall-Bell (by Blue Hors Don Romantic) on 72.935%.
