Brand new European team silver and individual bronze medal winning German young rider Luca Sophia Collin has acquired the internationally competed Grand Prix horse Bonamour as her Under 25 hopeful.
Bonamour is an 11-year old Westfalian stallion by Bonifatius out of Fantasie (by Rousseau x Werther x Donnerwetter). He is bred by Andreas and Ute Brinkmann.
Westfalian Licensed Stallion
He was licensed for breeding at the 2012 Westfalian Stallion Licensing and approved for the Hanoverian society in 2015. He was the high scorer in the in the 2014 Stallion performance test in Zweibrucken with an overall score of 8.56 points.
Owned by Gestut Kampmann, he was first competed by Janine Drissen (née Ebben), who rode him to a bronze medal at the 2014 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf.
He sold as a 5-year old for 160,000 euro to Korean Grand Prix rider Dong Seon Kim at the 2015 Westfalian Spring Elite Auction in Munster-Handorf.
Hubertus Schmidt
Kim moved Bonamour to Hubertus Schmidt's stable where he was trained to Grand Prix level.
In 2016 Spanish assistant trainer Ivan Nieto Sanchez competed Bonamour at M-level, while Schmidt presented him at small tour level as of 2017. The duo finished fifth at the 2017 Nurnberger Burgpokal for Developing PSG Horses in Frankfurt.
In 2019 Schmidt moved the horse up to Grand Prix level and rode his first S*** level test in the Louisdor Cup qualifier in Hagen, followed by a double victory in the qualifier in Munich. Bonamour did his first classic Grand Prix test in August 2019 in Munster.
Sold to Denmark
Dong Seon Kim, who acquired the Danish WEG team horse Belstaff at Helgstrand Dressage, sold Bonamour to Andreas Helgstrand.
The chestnut gelding did not immediately sell and Helgstrand decided to move the horse to Patrik Kittel's barn in Germany to be trained, competed and sold.
Kittel made his show debut in 2021 and rode him in one international competition, the 2021 CDI-W Mariakalnok, where he booked a double victory
Under 25 Hopeful for Luca Collin
Bonamour has now been sold to the Collin family as an Under 25 hopeful for German Young Rider team member Luca.
Trained by Jochen Bender, Collin already purchased the 10-year old Oldenburg stallion Budhi (by Bordeaux x Likoto xx x Rinaldo) as an Under 25 hopeful at Hof Kasselmann in October 2020.
“My plans with Bonamour are to get to know each other and then hopefully start competing in the U25 in the future,” Collin told Eurodressage. “With him and Budhi!”
In the acquisition of Bonamour, she swapped Dolani, who moved to Kittel’s barn.
