Eighteen Colts Pass on Third Pre-Selection Day for 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing

Eighteen colts received a ticket to the 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing after the third pre-selection day for dressage bred colts, which are hosted at the KWPN headquarters in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 1 - 10 December 2021.

The KWPN licensing committee, consisting of Bert Rutten, Johan Hamminga and Wouter Plaizier, assessed a substantial group of colts on day three of five days of dressage selection.

For Ferrero and For Romance

The sire who did best on the third pre-selection day on 8 November was the Dutch owned Hanoverian stallion For Ferrero (by For Romance x Don Crusador) who saw four of his sons accepted for the second phase.

"These are colt with nice models and a good way of moving, in which they showed ability to extend and collect," said Bert Rutten, chair of the licensing committee.

For Ferrero's sire, Lodbergen's Oldenburg stallion For Romance (by Furst Romancier x Sir Donnerhall), had three sons accepted at the pre-selection.

All at Once

The international Grand Prix stallion All at Once (by Ampere x Gribaldi) made an impression at the pre-selection. The 11-year old black stallion was only KWPN approved in 2017 and from his first crop since then (so colts born in 2018 and presented now at the pre-selection), three out of four passed.

"Those were three nice colts, two of them out of strong dam lines," said Bert Rutten. All at Once already has three sons accepted for the performance test while he stood at stud, not being approved for KWPN.

Complete Package

Although 18 colts passed on day three, Rutten stated that it wasn't easy selection.

"In the morning we had to look for complete stallions, but overall during the day we selected a nice group of fine colts, including some that are genetically very interesting, either because of their performance pedigree or because they have different blood."
