The 17-year old Westfalian stallion Estobar has moved from his home Gut Neuenhof to stand at the Redefin state stud for the 2022 breeding season.

Estobar is by Ehrentusch out of Florence (by Ferragamo x Florestan). He is bred by the late Norbert Borgmann.

Licensing Champion

The bay was champion of the 2006 Westfalian Stallion Licensing and sold at auction for the record price of 535,000 euro to Axel and Sandra Schürner of the Rhineland based Gestüt Neuenhof. It was announced that he would be stationed at Gestut Ligges.

He did his 30-day performance test in Munster-Handorf in 2007 and scored 8,98 for dressage and 8,10 for show jumping. In 2009 he did the 70-day performance test in Adelheidsdorf and was the dressage high scorer with 154.74 points, but finished at the bottom for show jumping (70.97). HIs index of 119,15 points ranked him sixth out of 31 participating stallions.

Competition Career

Estobar was first competed by Ingrid Klimke in 2007 and he stayed with her for two years.

After no shows in 2009, he reappeared with Wolfhard Witte in 2010 and placed seventh at the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf. Witte took him to Prix St Georges level in 2011 before Hubertus Schmidt took over the ride.

In 2012 Estobar did the developing Grand Prix horses classes but then sustained an injury and was off for a year. He stood at stud at Ludger Beerbaum's stallion station at that time.

He returned to fitness in 2014 and in 2015 he made his international show debut at medium tour level under Schmidt at the CDI Perl. It was his first and only CDI in his career.

Between 2016 and 2017 Ivan Nieto Sanchez and Danica Duen shared the ride. From 2017 till 2019 Nieto was his sole rider. Estobar competed in his last national show in Munster in August 2019 age 15.

Move to Redefin

On 16 December Gut Neuenhof moved Estobar to state stud Redefin for the 2022 breeding season.

Estobar's most famous offspring include the popular licensed breeding stallion and German squad listed Escolar (Hubertus Schmidt) as well as international Grand Prix horse Ein Traum (Borja Carrascosa, Paulina Holzknecht) and FEI level horses Emilia Galotti (Heinz Kemper), Eyecatcher (Vivien Borgmann), Ein Stern (Karina Zakhrabekova), Egoiste (Christian Lanterdinger), Eurodressage (Raphaelle Borgmann), and Equitaris (Wolfgang Schmitz-Heinen).
