The Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS) has announced the selection shows, where the top youth and senior riders will have to appear if they want to be considered for team selection for the summer championships of 2022.
A few days ago, the updated dressage squads and squad selection criteria was disclosed. The A-squads from youth to senior level have all been severely thinned out. Emmelie Scholtens received dispensation from the KNHS due to her pregnancy and been submitted to the B-squad nonetheless. Her horse Desperado missed out on the Tokyo Olympics due to an injury.
The seniors who want to aim for a team spot for the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning (DEN), will have to ride the Dutch Championships (5 - 8 May) as well as at least two of three further selection CDI's and they are the CDI 3* Exloo (3-6 June), CDIO Rotterdam (23-26 June) and CDIO Aachen (28 June – 3 July). Dutch team trainer Alex van Silfhout decides which rider compete where.
For the youth riders the summer championships will be held in Strzegom (ponies), Pilisjaszfalu (Children, U25) and Hartpury (junior/young riders). To be considered for team selection they have to ride at the Dutch Championships (5-8 May) and CDI Exloo (3 - 6 June). The pony, juniors and young riders then do the CDN Schijndel (3 July), while the Children and U25 need to ride at the CDN Hoevelaken (15 July).
