Legendary Broodmare Poesie Passed Away

Poesie, the legendary broodmare and the pride of the Brandenburg state stud, has passed away on 31 March 2022. She was 30 years old. 

Bred by at the state stud in Neustadt/Dosse and born in 1992, the chestnut mare Poesie was by Brentano II x Gotland x Sekurit.

Sandro Hit

The elite and state premium mare Poesie provided a winning combination when paired to stallion Sandro Hit.

She produced the licensed stallions Samba Hit I to V. She was also the dam to the World Young Horse champion and Bundeschampion mare Poetin (by Sandro Hit), who sold at the PSI auction for 2.5 million euro to The Netherlands and then in an executorial sale for 900,000 euro to Frenchman Xavier Marie. 

Her daughter Passionata (by Brandenburger) was the dam of the foundation stallion Quaterback (by Quatermain)

Poetin has five full sisters (Poetin I to VI) and two clones (Poetin Z CL 1, Poetin Z CL 2).

15 Foals

Poesie produced 17 foals in her life, of which several are still based in Neustadt/Dosse. Her last foals were born in 2011: Piccolina (by Ituango xx) and Poetin VI (by Sandro Hit).

She has her own, personal groom in Madeleine Mann. 

Immortal

The state stud announced the passing of the mare on Instagram. 

"We owe this exceptional mare so much," they stated. "With her special personality and kindness, Poesie conquered hearts. With her offspring she immortalized herself in our mare band and influenced dressage horse breeding world wide."
