Dorothee Schneider's number one in the barn, Showtime FRH, is scheduled to make his come back at the 2022 German Dressage Championships in Balve next week.

The 16-year old Hanovieran gelding by Sandro Hit x Rotspon has been absent from the competition arena since the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he won team gold and placed 15th in the kur to music individual finals.

Showtime - Faustus

Showtime, who has struggled with niggling injuries in the past, was also replaced with Faustus for the German team at the 2021 European Championships in Hagen, last September.

This year's Schneider's second ride Faustus (by Falsterbo x Forest xx) has not been able to tick the 75% scoring box yet in the Grand Prix, something he regularly did in 2021. At Hagen, Herning, Mannheim and Munich he did not reach the 75% marker with his score often stuck at 73%.

Germany in Pursuit

Showtime's return to the competition arena is very welcome as leading up to the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning, the long-time team gold medal winning country is holding a weaker hand of cards this year due to the absence of the pregnant Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and the retirement of both Bella Rose and Weihegold.

The 2022 German Championships in Balve are the first official German team selection trial for Herning.

According to the Dressursport-Deutschland, the following riders are entered to compete in the senior championship:

  • Helen Langehanenberg - Annabelle
  • Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier - Valesco and Valencia As
  • Hubertus Schmidt - Denoix PCH
  • Dorothee Schneider - Faustus und Showtime FRH
  • Carina Scholz - Tarantinus
  • Frederic Wandres - Duke of Britain FRH and Bluetooth OLD
