A third combination has dropped out of the 2022 German Dressage Championships, the first of two German team selection trials for the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning in August.

After Semmieke Rothenberger cancelled her start due to an achilles injury, Matthias Rath pulled out his number one Destacado for a minor injury this morning. Later this afternoon Hubertus Schmidt called off his start on Denoix PCH.

According to Dressursport Deutschland, Schmidt and Nancy Gooding's Oldenburg bred Denoix PCH had arrived in Balve and done their first training and ring familiarisation there. Schmidt had to cancel his start "due to an adductor problem."

Schmidt won the German Championships in 2005 on Wansuela Suerta and in 2007 on Andretti.

Fifteen combinations are competing in the 2022 German Dressage Championships, but no less than four riders have two horses in it (Frederic Wandres, Dorothee Schneider, Isabell Werth, and Fabienne Lutkemeier) bringing down the total amount of riders to 11.  The Grand Prix kicks off tomorrow, 10 June 2022.
