French Grand Prix team rider Charlotte Chalvignac and the Hanoverian Friedrich Schiller became the winners of the 2022 French Championships for 7-year olds which were held in Le Mans on 14 - 15 October 2022.

A field of twenty horses was entered for these Nationals and 19 ended up participating in the two-round Championship.

Friedrich Schiller For Gold

Chalvignac and the black Hanoverian Friedrich Schiller (by Finest x Desperados) topped the board twice and took the title and gold medal. They won the 7-year olds preliminary test with 74.278% and the final round with 74.822% to produce a winning average of 74.550%.

Chalvignac has been riding Friedrich Schiller for almost two years. In January 2021 he was the top seller of the first Hanoverian Auction of the year, selling for 81,500 euro. It wasn't the first time this horse sold at auction. In 2015 he sold as a foal to the Swedish investment company, Aldrie Consultants, and they resold him in the 2021 auction.

Last year Charlotte Chalvignac and Friedrich Schiller were selected to represent France at the 2021 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, but shortly before the show the horse was swapped for the alternate, Parodie ter Dolen. This year the 7-year old got the chance to compete on the world stage in Ermelo and were 9th in the consolation finals.  A month and a half after Ermelo, the pair won the French 7-Year old Championship. In France, the horse competes under the name "Friedrich Majishan," the brand name for Charlotte and her husband Jean Vesin's business collaboration.

Silver for Forever Lauture

Friedrich Schiller, Forever de Lauture, Quing de Valdi
Former French Grand Prix team rider Claire Gosselin piloted her home bred, Selle Français Forever de Lauture to silver.

The pair was second twice in the two rounds, posting 73.522% in the preliminary test and 72.372% in the Finals test, to average 72.947% for silver.

Forever de Lauture is a typical French breeding product, sired by the former international Grand Prix horse Joeris (by Ferro x Ufarno) and out of Gosselin's own mare Aliz de Lauture, who is by Claire's former French Grand Prix team horse Karamel de Lauture (by Gribaldi) and out of a Looping grand dam. Claire competed dam Aliz at the 2017 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo and finished 18th in the consolation finals for 7-year olds.

Claire and Forever de Lauture are familiar faces on the French show scene. At the 2021 French Young Horse Championships they were 7th in the 6-year old division last year.

Quing De Valdi Takes Bronze

The 7-year old podium
The 50-year old Marc Brule steered the Oldenburg registered Quing de Valdi to the bronze medal.

The duo proved consistency placing third in the preliminary round with 73.236% and keeping a hold of the third place in the Finals round with 71.536%. They averaged 72.386% for a third place overall.

Bred by Celine Faure Curt, Quing de Valdi is by Quaterbold du Payrol out of Royal Pearl (by Royal Diamond x Donnerhall). He sold as a weanling and is owned by Claire Beauvois. Rider Brulé moved his business  at the start of the year and from Deauville to the isle of Corsica. He now works out of the Finidori family's Domaine de Piscia.
