Two days after the partial release of the statistics of stallion coverings in Denmark, the full numbers have been made available and Blue Hors Baron beat Be Sure to the punch, having covered the most mares in Denmark in 2022.

Danish Warmblood Mares + Mares of Other Registries

On 4 January Eurodressage published that Be Sure (by Benicio x Scuderia) was the most popular breeding stallion in Denmark in 2022. This is still correct when it comes to the amount of coverings for "Danish warmblood" registered mares.

With the complete figures now known, including mares from different registries based in Denmark, Blue Hors Baron (by Benicio x Sir Donnerhall) has topped the charts, although the difference with the number two is just one mare.

Baron was bred to 112 Danish warmblood mares and 34 mares from other registries in Denmark, making a total of 146 mares in Denmark

Be Sure was bred to 126 Danish warmblood mares and 19 mares from other registries based in Denmark, making a total of 145 mares in Denmark.

Top 10 of Most Used Stallions in Denmark

the complete figures for the Top 10 of most used stallions in Denmark are as following:

  • 1. Blue Hors Baron = 112 Danish mares - 34 foreign mares = 146
  • 2. Be Sure = 126 Danish mares - 19 foreign mares = 145
  • 3. Blue Hors St. Schufro = 90 Danish mares - 33 foreign mares = 123
  • 4. Jovian - 96 Danish mares - 10 foreign mares = 106
  • 5. Blue Hors Farrell = 81 Danish mares - 23 foreign mares = 104
  • 6. Hesselhoj Donkey Bos = 76 Danish mares - 13 foreign mares = 89

  • 9. Iron = 67 Danish mares - 18 foreign mares = 85
  • 10. Revolution = 63 Danish mares - 15 foreign mares = 78

Keep in mind that these numbers of coverings do not include the mares covered in Germany, The Netherlands, and other countries world wide. Those numbers might generate a whole different ranking.

However, in Germany detailed figures about each stallion are kept secret. In The Netherlands, KWPN reveals the numbers just like Danish warmblood.
