Former U.S. team rider Kasey Perry-Glass has unveiled a new Grand Prix horse, Heartbeat W.P., which potentially could take her back into the international arena.
Heartbeat W.P. is an 11-year old KWPN gelding by Charmeur out of Showtime (by Ferro x Landwind II). He is bred at horse farm Veltmaat in The Netherlands.
Thamar Zweistra
Fleur van der Meer (née van 't Laar) trained and competed Heartbeat from young horse level to Prix St Georges.
When Fleur got pregnant, Heartbeat moved into training with Dutch team rider Thamar Zweistra, who had been training Fleur and her sister Marlous.
In August 2021 Zweistra piloted the bay gelding into his first Intermediaire II and in December 2021 into his first national level Grand Prix test, scoring 70.30%. It was Thamar's 28th horse she competed at Grand Prix level at that time.
Zweistra continued to produce the gelding and in April 2022 rode him to a 71.2% score in the national Grand Prix in Kronenberg.
Sold to the U.S.A.
At the end of October 2022, Heartbeat WP sold to Kasey Perry-Glass in the U.S.A.
Perry-Glass' career making Grand Prix horse Gorklintgaards Dublet was retired in July 2020 although he did his last show at the World Cup Finals in Gothenburg in April 2019. The pair won team bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, in 2017 they were 7th at the World Cup Finals and won the 2017 U.S. Grand Prix championships. At the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, they won team silver and were 6th in the Grand Prix Special.
In 2020 Perry twice competed Mistico TM (by Donnerball x Weltmeyer) at international small tour level, but the liver chestnut has also been retired from sport. In 2020 Perry bought the KWPN mare Hutopia (by Chagall x Lord Sinclair) which she has shown nationally in four tests at Second and Third level in December 2020 and March 2021.
Kasey had a baby in November 2021 and has not yet returned to the competition arena since March 2021.
"I’ve already enjoyed several months to get to know this beautiful boy, and I can’t express how grateful I am," Kasey stated.
