German top groom Lars Seefeld has joined the team at Kristy and Rose Oatley's barn in Germany. Seefeld became a popular face in top sport dressage as the groom of Danish Daniel Bachmann Andersen's horses.
Lars first worked for six years at Wolfgang Schade's yard, before moving to Sweden to work for Grand Prix rider Charlotte Haid-Bondergaard. From there he moved to Blue Hors stud in Denmark in 2019, where he was allocated Bachmann's horses.
Seefeld follow the Dane when Daniel left Blue Hors in 2020 and set up his own shop, first at Kleppenhus in Ebeltoft and then at Agnete Kirk Thinggaard's Julianelyst in Ostbirk.
Seefeld was often featured in interviews and became a face of the newly established International Grooms Association. He was nominated for the FEI Best Groom Award in 2022.
Bachmann and Seefeld suddenly parted ways in March 2023, announcing the split in a series of peculiar social media posts.
Seefeld briefly returned to his home near Hamburg and has now found a new base at Kristy Oatley's barn, which used to be Martina Hannöver's yard, in Lutjensee.
"I got a lot of nice offers all over the world," Lars told Eurodressage. "I feel really happy to have decided to go to Kristy. She is such an amazing person. It feels like a big family and i’s not so far from my family."
