The three-year legal battle between Paul Schockemöhle and Totilas' previous owner Cees Visser has come to a close. After the court ruled in favour of the German, Visser has finally delivered the remaining frozen semen straws by court order.

In her blog on St.Georg, former editor in chief Gabriele Pochammer mentioned a conversation which she had with Paul at the CHIO Aachen, where he confirmed that he has received the straws. The chapter is now finally closed.

Eurodressage has written about the long chronology of this legal battle over Totilas' frozen semen in numerous articles, but a summary can be read here

In February 2023 the Court in Arnheim ruled in favour of Schockemöhle as the rightful owner of Totilas' semen, with the exclusive right to sell it. Visser had 244 semen straws left  in storage, which he intended to sell in 2021 for ICSI insemination (Equine Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) at a price of 3,750 euro per ICSI procedure.

Schockemöhle sued and won. He has now received the 244 straws. "First of all, I have to see whether it can still be used at all. I don't think so," he told St. Georg.
