The Portuguese equestrian federation (FEP) has announced the team that will represent Portugal at the 2023 European Dressage Championships in Riesenbeck (GER), set to take place on 4 - 10 September 2023.
The Portuguese team is supported by national team trainer Kyra Kyrklund, team veterinarian Bruno Miranda, and chef d'equipe António Frutuoso de Melo.
The team includes:
- Jeannette Jenny on Damasco, a Lusitano, 2008, by Quo-Vadis out of Jiboia (by Edo)
- Joao Moreira on Zonik Hit, an Oldenburg, 2013, by Zonik out of Donna Argentina (by Diamond Hit)
- Maria Pais do Amaral on Hot Hit OLD Campline, an Oldenburg, 2010, by Blue Hors Hotline out of La Palma (by Diamond Hit)
- Maria Caetano on Fenix de Tineo, a Lusitano, 2010, by Rubi out of Aolga (by Oheide) - reserve horse: Hit Plus
The travelling reserve is Antonio do Vale on Fine Fellow (Oldenburger, 2011, by Furst Fugger x Epikur).
Debutants
The team for Riesenbeck has two debutants: Maria Pais do Amaral and Jeannette Jenny.
Maria Amaral represented Portugal at three consecutive European Young Riders Championships on Wondermann in 2006, 2007, and 2008. This is her first senior team nomination on Hot Hit OLD Campline, who was secured for Maria to ride by Team Campline.
After a 12-year break from international competition, the Austrian born Portuguese Jeannette Jenny returned to the CDI arena in 2022 and a year later she has ridden herself onto the team with Damasco.
