Irish Grand Prix rider Fenella Quinn has lost her career-starting international Grand Prix horse Creatzo.

Creatzo was a 16-year old KWPN gelding by Johnson out of Terinet (by Obelisk x Ulft). He was bred by P. Manintveld and R. van Puijenbroek

Begijnhoeve

Creatzo was one of the first breeding products of Belgian based and Dutch born Grand Prix rider Rob van Puijenbroek, who owns equestrian centre Begijnhoeve. He bred the black together with his former partner P. Manintveld.

Creatzo started his career as a young horse under Dutch Carlijn Spaan, who competed him up to Prix St Georges level in The Netherlands in 2015 and 2016.

Move to the U.K.

Creatzo sold to Fenella Quinn (née Ross) and moved to Aberdeen, U.K., where she is based with her stable. The pair has been trained by Abigail Lyle.

Fenella and Creatzo premiered at national Advanced Medium level  in April 2017 and rode him at the British Championships that summer, placing 10th.

International Debut

Quinn made her international show debut on Creatzo  at the 2019 CDI Hartpury at small tour level and competed hum also at the 2020 CDI Keysoe, placing fourth in the Intermediaire I. In the autumn of 2020 they rode their first national Inter II test.

In 2022 Quinn went down her first international Grand Prix centerline on Creatzo at the CDI Keysoe and two months later took him to Compiegne. It was the pair's last show

Untimely Passing

Three days ago, Quinn shared the news of the untimely passing of Creatzo.

"If love alone could have saved you then you’d never have had to go. Because god knows J, you were so loved," she wrote. "Thank you for the memories, the adventures & the joy. You’ll forever be my hero and I will miss you every day. Sleep tight Johnny boy."

To Eurodressage Quinn explained that Creatzo sustained an injury last year, which despite all veterinary care and effort did not heal. "Devastated, he was the best horse," Fenella added.
