2024 French Dressage Championships

Children rider Ninon Dupuy Pelardy, junior rider Ines de Koninck, young rider Mathilde Juglaret, and Under 25 rider Capucine Noël became the winners of the 2024 French Youth Rider Championships held on 24 - 27 October 2024.

For the first time the French Youth Championships were held in Mâcon, France, after having been hosted in Le Mans for many years.

Seven pairs battled it out in the Children division and it was French European championship team rider Ninon Dupuy Pelardy who captured the title with a siginificant point lead on the 10-year old Oldenburg mare Dancielle de Malleret (by Danciano de Malleret x Florencio). She scored 75,090 in the preliminary test, 75,400% in the team test and 74,852 in the individual for the gold medal. She was joined on the podium by Helea Ferrand and Flavie Barraud.

"I'm so happy," Ninon beamed. "Dancielle was incredible the entire weekend. I'm very proud of her." Ninon gets training from her mom Perrine Pelardy and Sarah Planchet.

The biggest entry field lined up for the Junior Riders division in which French junior team routinier Ines de Koninck performed increasingly better throughout the weekend with scores climbing from 69,486% in the team test, to 71,237% in the individual and 75,555% in the freestyle to capture gold. The silver went to team colleague Anna Dupuy Pelardy on Jarina Des Vallees, while team rider Lucie Planchet got bronze on Quincy Jones du Soleil.

"I am so proud and grateful to hold this title to conclude our three years in the junior division with Figo," said Ines who is coached by Sara Lostria.

Eight pairs contested the Young Riders Championships and Mathilde Juglaret surfaced to the top aboard a new ride, Isabelle Douce and Francoise Niclaus' 8-year old KWPN bred Lightning Star RR (by Ferguson x De Niro). She posted whopping scores of 72,647% in the team test, 76,488% in the individual and 78,735% in the kur for the title and gold medal. The silver went to Emeline Schevingt and the bronze to German based Louisa Valkyser.

"Still can’t quite believe it," said Mathilde who only rode her second show on Lightning Star. "She really gave her all and offered me the most amazing feeling in the freestyle finale, where she literally smashed it." Juglaret, who trains with her mom Anne-Sophie Serre, rode to the music of her previous junior horse, Caporal de Massa. "I cannot wait to create a freestyle worthy of my dear Lilly over the winter break. Our partnership is growing and developing SO strongly at the moment which makes me sooo looking forward to the future."

Four pairs faced off in the Under 25 division and it was seasoned youth rider Capucine Noël on her 18-year old Hanoverian Soleil Noir Vom Rosenhof (by Stedinger x Weltmeyer) who won the gold. The pair won all three rounds, scoring 68,706% in the Intermediaire II, 68,949% in the short Grand Prix, and 71,105% in the Kur. The silver went to Alexandre Cheret, while Mado Pinto collected bronze.

French youth team captain Muriel Leonardi commented, "this 2024 edition is a great success with a good participation rate. We had great performances, great podiums, and pairs who repeated the good performances since the start of the season. In the children division we saw three of the four combinations from the European Championships but also new young people. This championship allows us to put the new combinations in the "cooker" and already plan for next season because some will change age category."
