2024 German Developing Pony Rider Championship

Martha Louise Temme became the winner of the 2024 German Developing Pony Rider Championships held at the indoor competition in Darmstadt, Germany, on 19 - 20 October 2024. Aboard the 7-year old mare Designed For You, she scored the highest overall total of 16.40 points.

A total of 19 pairs competed in the Developing Pony Rider Championships, which are the stepping stone for young pony riders to FEI level pony sport. The combinations have to contest two L-level tests and the results are totalled for the final ranking. The finalists were selected based on a three-day seminar in Warendorf

This year the Championship was judged by Tine Viebahn, Dirk Feuser, and Sandra Kaufmann. In the finals two L-level dressage tests are ridden and the judges pay particular attention to seat and aids

Martha Louise Temme, who came third on the first day (score 7.8), came out on top on the final day. Aside from a small mistake in canter, which was corrected immediately, the 12-year-old from Emmendingen and Designed for You (by Dreiklang AT x Quaterback's Junior) were the high scorers with the judges. Thanks to "sensitive, fine riding" and a "supple seat", the rider received by far the best score of the test, an 8.5 and won the overall champion's title. Martha trains with Andrea Caesar at Stall Buchenhof.

The 13-year-old Mathilda Kraemer from Aachen and her 9-year-old Heitholms Mr. Mystic (by FS Mr. Right x Champion de Luxe) took second place. The stallion won the test on the first day with 8.5, but held back a little on the second day. With sensitive riding and a harmonious overall picture, the pair received a 7.7, which led to a final result of 16.2. "Something great could come of this, but today was not your greatest day," said the former national pony dressage coach, Conny Endres, who publicly commented on all the rides on the final day and gave the participants valuable tips for further training.

Following in a distance in bronze was 11-year-old Emma Sophie Dankenbring with the 12-year-old mare Bali vM (by Beckenbauer x Bennos Dream). In the final round pair also did not quite reach the level of the previous day when they were second with a clear 8.0. "She didn't have quite as much 'fuel in the tank' today as yesterday," Endres began her commentary. Although the rider's good seat base was once again pleasing, the mare did not pull as much as in the first test and did not seem quite as relaxed overall. The judges' verdict was 7.3 but the final score of 15.3 points ranked them third.
