The Oldenburg bred Zarenstern was named the champion of the 2025 Oldenburg Saddle Licensing in Vechta on Friday 11 April 2025.

The Oldenburg breeding society held a saddle licensing for the 14th time. Twenty young stallions were pre-selected to participate in this two-day licensing. Seventeen of them showed up and nine were accepted.

Champion

The dark bay 3-year old Zarenstern was named the champion.

He is by Zuperman out of elite mare Relaunch (by San Amour x Don Schufro), bred and owned by the Von Merveldt family of Gut Füchtel in Vechta. He is originally named Fuchtels Zuperboy.

Sire Zuperman was a 1c premium stallion at his licensing. Under Beatrice Hoffrogge he won the bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo. On Zarenstern's dam side the first four generations are Elite mares. The dam line produced the Grand Prix successful mare Rhapsodie Queen (by De Niro/Isabell Werth) and the licensed and Grand Prix successful stallion Detroit (by Dimaggio/Anna Zibrandtsen).

Premium

Three stallions were named premium.

The reserve champion is the 3-year old Invictus Negro (by Ibiza Dream out of SPS Finesse (by Florestan x Rubinstein), bred by Simone Wiedenhöfer and owned by Marvin Klausing.

The 3-year old Fürst Fiedes (by Fürst Toto out of Lady Annabell (by Ampére x Sandro Hit)), bred by Hayo Tongers and owned by Anna Vaske, was the third ranked premium stallion.

Auction

A large number of the young stallions presented will enrich the exquisite collection of the 103rd Spring Elite Auction the day after tomorrow. The auction starts at 2.00 pm. Tomorrow, Saturday, the stallions can be tested under the saddle from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
