2025 Danish Junior/Young Riders Championships

Junior rider Rikke Schoubye Johansen and young rider Anna Have Larsen-Ledet became the winners of the 2025 Danish Junior/Young Riders Championships held in Vallensbaek on 29 May - 1 June 2025.

Compared to the 2024 Championships five of the six medallists were all newcomers to the podium.

Junior Riders: Schoubye Johansen

Twenty-four junior riders were entered, 23 rode the first round and fifteen moved onto the second round.

Rikke Maria Schoubye Johansen and her 12-year old Danish bred Baunehøjens Carpaccio (by Charmeur x White Talisman) captured the highest step of the podium after placing second in the first round (71.216%) and winning the second round, the kur to music, with 74.500%.

"Winning the Danish Championship so early in my junior years is an absolutely fantastic experience that I will never forget, and even more so with my best friend, for whom I am eternally grateful," Rikke told Ridehesten. "I had to pinch myself when I got home, because it is hard to believe that it is reality. None of this would be possible without the endless support from my coaches Jette- and Carina Nevermann, and my amazing parents. I am eternally indebted to them all."

The silver went to Laura Qvist aboard the 8-year old Danish bred Hafsjolds Ranger (by Revolution x Hohenstein). They won the first round with 71.352% but felt the pressure in the freestyle final and landed fourth place with 72.75%. Their overall total made them the reserve champions.

The bronze was for Ida Bøllingtoft Asmussen on the 10-year old Danish bred Gozzip (by Sezuan x De Noir). They were fourth in the first round with 71.0% and ranked fifth in the kur with 72.15%, yet their overall total was good for third place.

Young Riders: Ana Have Larsen-Ledet

Thirty-two young riders were entered for the Nationals in Vallensbaek. They competed three tests on the weekend, but only the classes on Saturday (individual test) and Sunday (Kur) counted towards the Championship.

Season newcomer Anna Have Larsen-Ledet became the national Young Rider champion in her first year competing at international YR level. Aboard the 11-year old Danish bred Finnigan-Vitz (by Franklin x Ferro) she placed second in the individual test with 71.526% and won the Kur with 76.125% for the gold medal. Larsen-Ledet has very little international experience. She rode one CDI as a pony rider on Nyholts Dundee in Zakrzow (POl) in October 2021 before returning to the international stage at the CDI Sint-Truiden in April 2025 with her small tour horse Finnigan Vitz. A student of Martin Hussmann, Anna is now ruling the roost in Denmark and positioned herself strongly for European Championship team selection.

"It's indescribable," Anna told Ridehesten. "I'm so proud of Finnigan and the partnership we've built. Finnigan is without a doubt my one in a million horse, and I never dared to hope for something so great with a horse I myself have trained through thick and thi."

The silver went to Freja Skovhus Lindblad on the 10-year old Danish bred Egelund Yurrell (by Farrell x Temple Wind xx). The pair, which has been competing at international YR level since June 2023, won the individual test with 72.263% and placed third in the Kur with 74.15% for an overall second place. Lindblad represented Denmark at 2024 Nordic Baltic Championships but is now eying a team spot for the bigger, more important European Championships.

Team routinier Josephine Gert Nielsen and her 10-year old grey gelding Bravio Bianco (by Belantis x De Niro) got bronze after placing fourth in the team test (71.0%) and second in the Kur (75.05%). After winning bronze as a junior rider last year, the pair now got bronze in the young riders division.
