So You Can Dance, Red Rock, Pina Colada Lead in 2026 Pavo Cup Semi Finals

2026 Pavo Cup Finals

The 4-year old So You Can Dance, the 5-year old Red Rock, and the 6-year old Pina Colada became the overnight leaders in the 2026 Pavo Cup "Semi Finals" held on Wednesday 26 August 2026.

The Pavo Cup Finals are the Young Horse Championships for KWPN bred, licensed and IBOP tested horses, held annually in August in Ermelo. After a series of qualifiers across the Netherlands in the spring and summer, the Finals consist of three rounds: a semi-finals, a final round 1, and then the best horses are test ridden by a guest judge rider to determine the overall ranking.

Of the 138 horses competing in the semi-finals no less than 12 have Vivaldi in their pedigree, while Negro is represented 10 times as sire or dam sire. In the 4-year old division no less than seven are sired by McLaren, while six horses are by the then Danish owned German bred So Perfect. It also interesting to look that several of the Dutch WCYH contestants were unable to shine in these Pavo Cup semi-finals and landed low on the leaderboard (McMary, Roman Empire, Ready to Rumble).

No less than 60 horses contested the 4-year old semi-finals and Gerrel Vink piloted stallion So You Can Dance (by Next Level x Ferguson) to the high score of the day in the class; 89,00%. Judith Ribbels finished second in the semi-finals on her own and Patrick Reesink's 4-year old Sophie Anne Marie (by For Romance) with 87.800%. Saskie Poel and the German bred but KWPN licensed Everglow Gold (by Escolar x Sir Donnerhall) were third.

In the 5-year old division with 50 horses competing Geertje Hoogendoorn and the chestnut Red Rock (by Mowgli VOD x Bordeaux) topped the leader board with 85.00%. The division is judged by dressage riders Flore de Winne and Jenny Schreven. Finishing second with the same score of 85% was the stallion Rockstar Millionaire (by D'Avie x Sandro Hit) under Emmelie Scholtens. He still needs to do his performance test to be KWPN licensed. Scholtens and licensed stallion Radetsky H (by Lennox US x Negro) were third.

In the 6-year old age category, in which Sandy van Boxmeer and Dinja van Liere judged 28 horses, it was Kirsten Brouwer who topped the board on KWPN stallion Pina Colada (by Governor x Dayano). Riding the dark bay stallion in a curb (allowed in the Pavo Cup but not in FEI/CDI shows at this age), Brouwer scored 89,400%. The reigning Pavo Cup champion of 2025, Kim Noordijk on Perfect Ritme (by Lord Europe x Negro), were second with 89,000%. Emmelie Scholtens and the black Port-Au-Prince (by Desperado x De Niro) were third with 87.800%.
