The interestingly named What The F*ck VDA was named the KWPN Foal Champion of 2026 at the KWPN Horse Days in Ermelo on Saturday 29 August 2026.

Ten foals were invited to the championship ring on Saturday afternoon where they were assessed by Wim Versteeg, Wouter Plaizier en Luuk Smetsers for a final ranking.

They proclaimed What The F*ck VDA the national champion. The chestnut colt by Proud James out of elite mare Robijn VDA (by Vitalis x Furstenball) is bred by Leo and Raymond van der Aalst from Eersel, The Netherlands. Earlier this colt was the winner of the KWPN foal inspection in Belgium, as the breeders live right on the border with Belgium.

"We were able to select a strong group of foals and included both the morning performance and the one just now in the assessment. Ultimately, we chose What The F*ck VDA as the champion," the inspection committee stated. "This son of Proud James is strongly modeled and possesses a correct foundation. He showed a functional way of moving with an electric trot, excellent leg technique, and balance. A very complete foal.”

Breeder Raymond was thrilled, "Of course, we knew at home that we had a good foal, but only good foals come here. The fact that he became champion is incredibly cool. After this result, we are continuing the adventure with him. He was sold half-way today to Joop van Uytert.”

Top Three

The reserve title went to Wingman, a black colt by Obsession Taonga out of Ozo Bella (by Fürst Jazz x De Niro), bred and owned by Ph. Kole from Vlake).

“A foal with very fitting proportions and a correct topline. In movement, he showed a lot of engagement and was light-footed. He always uphill with his withers up. Great presence."

The colt What a Feeling (by Everglow Gold out of Par Excellence C&R (by Le Formidable x Ampere)) was third. He is bred by Belgian Rik van Gils and is registered with the Gerrits-Poel family from Heusden.

"He possesses a beautiful conformation, a remarkable amount of presence, and a solid foundation. He moved with good leg technique and consistently brought his hindquarters underneath; compared to his predecessors, he could show slightly more shoulder freedom," said the committee.
