The filly Tamina Delin BS was named the champion of the 2023 KWPN Foal Championship on 11 August 2023.

Fifteen were selected to battle it out for the title and were judged by Johan Hamminga, Bart Bax and Menke Hoekstra.

Just a day before sire Extreme U.S. (by Escamillo x Vivaldi) won the 2023 Pavo Cup Final in the 4-year old division, no less than three of his offspring made it into the foal champion's ring. The championship was dominated by fillies who took the champion and reserve champion's title.

Tamina Delin BS

Filly Tamina Delin BS (by Extreme U.S. out of Fame Delin RT (by Tuschinski)) stood out with her hindleg technique and was favoured by the judges. She descends from the dam line that produced licensed stallions Crosby and Las Vegas. She is bred by Jaap Sikma, who sold dam Fame Delin RT last year pregnant with Tamina Delin BS to Stable Brouwer. The horse dealer re-sold Fame Delin RT to Bart Bartelds and Sandra Keizer and all three co-own the foal.

"It's a long-lined foal with a lot of expression in front and a strong body. She has a nice neck and a very nice way of moving. She saw a lot of quietness in her way of going, always uphill," said the judges.

A few days after winning the title, this foal sold in an auction for 36,000 euro to Matthieu Beckmann in Germany.

Tango Lady

The reserve champion was filly Tango Lady (by Furst Toto out of Dancing Lady (by Dancier), bred and owned by Mathijs Maat.

"She's still a young filly but has a lof of type, expressive and a strong topline," said judge Johan Hamminga. "This filly has self-carriage and a quiet way of going."

Thor F

Colt Thor F (by Extreme US x UB40, bred by M Faber in Antwerp, Belgium and owned by stallion keeper Joop van Uytert, finished third.

"This foal has a lot of front and a nice topline. He moves beautifully uphill with a lot of ability to collect and extend and with much swing. He stays supple in the body."
