Swedish young professional dressage rider and junior rider team member Ronja Kardos had to pull out of the Swedish Young Horse Championships this week after fracturing her leg in a riding accident at home.

The 17-year old Kardos is a former Swedish children and pony team rider, who has also been competing at international junior riders' level and show jumping nationally. Between 2022 and 2025 she has competed three ponies and two horses internationally: Brannornas Rigoleto, Holly's Final, Cerwins Flying V, and Nice One, and Holly's Temptation SA.

For the 2026 Swedish Young Horse Championships she qualified no less than 11 horses and took seven to Flyinge.

After having warmed her 4-year old jumper and competed the 6-year old Quick Dream (by Quaterhit-Benetton Dream) in the first round on Wednesday 30 September 2026, Kardos returned home to ride her other horses and fractured her leg which got squeezed and twisted against the kickboard.

She was hospitalised and had to be operated on to stabilise the fractured fibula on Friday 2 October. Her mom Camilla Axelsson has taken over the ride on a few of her horses in Flyinge while Ronja recovers. She was allowed to leave the hospital on Saturday 3 October 2026.

Ronja will spent some time out of the saddle for the bone break to heal.
