The Danish dressage team pony Morgensterns Dakar has been sold to Swedish FEI pony rider Elin Ullman.
Morgensterns Dakar is an 11-year old Rhinelander bred pony by FS Don't Worry x The Breas My Mobility. He is bred at Gestut zum Morgenstern in the German speaking part of Belgium.
German Beginnings
Dakar first found the spotlight when he was licensed as a breeding stallion at the 2011 Rhinelander pony licensing in Wickrath. However, he was soon gelded to be focused on sport.
He began his competition career in Germany under Leonie Teeuwen in 2013 and did just a few shows, but made it to the 2013 Bundeschampionate in Warendorf, where he placed 8th in the 4-year old mares and geldings class.
A few weeks later the pony was offered for sale at the Ponyforum Online Sales, but the palomino vanished off the radar for a year.
He resurfaced in Denmark in the show arena in 2015 under Asta Silje Envoldsen, who competed him for two years.
Thilde Rude Hare and Dakar
In 2016 Dakar sold to Thilde Rude Hare and she first competed nationally.
The new duo made its international show debut at FEI pony level in 2018 at the CDI Aalborg and one month later competed at the CDI Uggerhalne. They won bronze at the 2018 Danish Pony Championships
In 2019 the pair went full force for a team spot and competed at the CDI's in Nieuw en St. Joosland, Uggerhalne, Hagen and finally the CDI Vilhelmsborg, where it won the team and individual test to earn a spot on the Danish team for the 2019 European Pony Championships in Strzegom, Poland. There, they won historic team gold and placed 12th in the individual test. They were the fourth ranked Danish pair so not eligible to move to the Kur. At the 2019 Danish Pony Championships they were fourth.
In the 2020 corona year, Rude Hare did not compete internationally but tried for the team again at national shows, coached by Cathrine Dufour. Team trainer Dennis Fisker named her team alternate though and she did not get to go to the 2020 Euros in Budapest.
However, the week before the Europeans, they did show off their quality and won gold and the national title at the 2020 Danish Pony Championships.
Sold to Sweden
Morgensterns Dakar has now been sold to the 15-year old Swedish Elin Ullman, who is yet to make her international debut.
Ullmann has been competing the 10-year old Swedish bred Dancer Boy (by Stendyssens Diablo x Precocious xx) and in 2019 the well known former international pony De Vito, a 16-year old German Riding pony by Donnerwetter x Don Pedro.
Ullman got the ride on Morgensterns Dakar only two weeks ago and the pair already made its show debut at the national show at Rappestads riding club on 3 - 4 October 2020, where they placed second in the team test with 70.495%.
Fred the Red for Thilde
Thilde will now continue her junior rider's career with Fred the Red, an 8-year old Westfalian gelding by Franziskus x Florestan, bred by Albert Schulze-Topphoff.
The chestnut Fred the Red has already travelled the world. He was discovered as a youngster by Frederik Vekens and presented at the 2015 Westfalian Saddle Licensing, where he got approved.
He then sold to Ulla Salzgeber and Ulla's business partner Frank Freund rode the gelding in his international show debut as a 5-year old at the 2017 CDI-YH Wiener Neustadt. Fred the Red sold to Ulla's student, Finnish Joanna Robinson, who competed him at the 2018 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, where they were 25th in the consolation finals.
Robinson put Fred the Red for sale with Helgstrand Dressage and the horse was shipped to Florida for the winter of 2019-2029. Israeli Eyal Zlatin borrowed the ride on the now small tour level trained gelding for the CDIO Nations Cup in Wellington. The horse did not sell in the U.S.A. and was shipped back to Denmark.
Rude Hare swapped her previous acquisition Agamemnon, an 11-year old Danish bred gelding by Akinos x Fanal Prydsholm which she started showing nationally in the spring of 2020, for Fred the Red.
"I didn't have the best chemistry (with Agamemnon)," Thilde explained, "and even though, it was hard to say goodbye to him, we made the decision to swap him. Fred the Red has to be my teacher. He is fantastically patient and forgives me all my mistakes."
Thilde also owns a second horse, the 6-year old Danish warmblood Zidan-DN (by Sezuan x Blue Hors Future Cup).
