The 5-year old KWPN and Danish warmblood licensed stallion Kardieno has been sold to Dressage Mala Skala in Prague, Czech Republic.

Kardieno is a 2015 born stallion by Oldenburg sire Dante Weltino out of Vidieni, who is by the Gelderlander Parcival x Hendo.

KWPN Licensed

He was bred by Janneke Gnodde and bought as a foal from a video by Dutch horse dealer Rom Vermunt.

The black was approved at the 2018 KWPN Stallion Licensing as part of the Gelderlander group despite his mixed pedigree. He was also approved for Oldenburg breeding.

The stallion did his Performance Test as a Gelderlander in 2018, which required him to also do two tests in the carriage. He was driven by Albert Lueks and Henk Hammers. For his carriage test he scored 8.5 for walk and trot, 9 for canter, 8.5 for self carriage and willingness, 8 for for suppleness and 8.5 for potential.

At the 2019 KWPN Licensing, he was presented under saddle by Bart Veeze, which prompted Danish horse dealer Andreas Helgstrand to buy the colt. That year 15 foals were expected to be born, sired by Kardieno, in The Netherlands.

Move to Denmark

Kardieno moved to Denmark and went into training with Helgstrand rider Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard.

He competed the 4-year old at the 2019 Pavo Cup Finals and finished 8th in the finals. However, on home turf, the pair won the gold medal at the Danish Young Horse Championships

Kardieno was long-listed for Dutch team selection for the 2020 World Young Horse Championships but ended up not being selected.

Instead, Kardieno ended up being sold to Belgian millionaire, industrial real estate developer Jan van Geet, who also runs "Dressage Mala Skala" with his partner, French Alizee Froment. The pair, who share a daughter, commutes between castle Gestelhof in Belgium and a brilliant equestrian property in the outskirts of Prague.

Van Geet was recently one of four parties bidding over one million euro for "About You" in the Hof Auction Borgmann. He was counter bidding against Andreas Helgstrand, Gaston Glock, and RS2 Dressage. The latter won the bidding and secured About You for 1.65 million euro.

Kardieno will no longer stand at stud, but focus on a career in sport.
