Isabell Werth's rising Grand Prix horse Quantaz has been named the 2020 Otto Lörke Prize recipient at the 2020 CDN Kronberg on Sunday 20 December 2020.

The Otto Lörke prize is annually bestowed upon the most successful rising Grand Prix horses in Germany of the year.  The prize is awarded to Grand Prix horses between the ages of 8 - 10 an the horse, trainer and owner received recognition.

The prize recipient is usually honoured at the CDI Stuttgart in November, but in this corona year the moment was moved to the Louisdor Cup Finals at the CDN Kronberg.

Quantaz

The 2020 Otto Lörke Prize winner is Quantaz, a 10-year old DSP stallion by Quaterback out of Piroschka (by Hohenstein). He is bred by Kathrin Damm.

He was licensed at the 2014 Stallion Licensing in Prussendorf, but never performance tested.

Owned by Andreas Damm, Quantaz made his show debut in 2013 under Julia Schonherr and in 2015 Ronald Lüders took over the ride. In 2017 he competed the horse in the Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifiers and in 2018 in the Louisdor Cup qualifier in Hagen.

In May 2018 Quantaz sold to Austrian Victoria Max-Theurer, but she gave the ride to her coach Isabell Werth to develop and consolidate the horse at Grand Prix level.

Werth made her CDI show debut on Quantaz at the CDI Mannheim in May 2019, followed by a start in Wiesbaden in June. One month later, Max-Theurer rode him at her first and only CDI so far, in Cappeln.

This year, Werth and Quantanz won six international classes, four of them at Max-Theurer's home CDI in Achleiten and two at the CDI Hagen in September.

On 14 December 2020 the FEI registered Werth's long-time sponsor Madeleine Winter-Schulze as co-owner of the horse. Three days later the German Equestrian Federation disclosed that Quantaz had been submitted to the Grand Prix A-squad as an Olympic team candidate.
