Twelve Colts Pass on Fourth Pre-Selection Day for 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing

Twelve colts received a ticket to the 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing after the fourth pre-selection day for dressage bred colts, which are hosted at the KWPN headquarters in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 1 - 10 December 2021.

The KWPN licensing committee, consisting of Bert Rutten, Johan Hamminga and Wouter Plaizier, selected a smaller group of colts on the penultimate day of pre-selection on 9 December 2021.

Eight Times Toto Jr

The stallion that did best on the fourth day was the Hanoverian bred Toto Jr (by Totilas x Desperados) who had 11 sons entered for pre-selection and no less than 8 will move on to the second phase.

"The colts by Toto Jr that we selected combine a good, long lined conformation and with an uphill way of moving," said Bert Rutten.

German sires are totally dominating this year's pre-selection with offspring by Toto Jr, For Ferrero, For Romance, Escamillo and Totilas standing out and moving on to the second phase.

Most used Sire

Interesting to note is that when it comes to foals born in 2019 (the crop from which the colts are presented at the pre-selection), Toto Jr was the second most popular sire in The Netherlands at the time. He had 208 foals born in 2019.

The sire with the most foals born in 2019, Just Wimphof (by De Niro x Riccione) has twenty sons registered for the pre-selection. He had 348 foals born in 2019. These twenty will be presented on the last pre-selection day on 10 December.
