At the 2022 KWPN Stallion Licensing in Ermelo, The Netherlands, the breeding stallions Bretton Woods, Dream Boy and Charmeur were proclaimed Keur stallion. Wynton received the highest predicate, preferent stallion.

Keur Stallions

A licensed stallion can be proclaimed "Keur" when his first crop of offspring has reached the age of seven or older. The Keur predicate is awarded to stallions that stand out in sport and pass on their confirmation to offspring.

This year three stallions were named Keur: Bretton Woods, Dream Boy and Charmeur.

Dream Boy (by Vivaldi x Ferro) competed at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo under Hans Peter Minderhoud. He is ranked 10th on the FEI World Ranking. He has several offspring competing at Grand Prix level and small tour, including Pavo cup winner Ivoli-E.

Bretton Woods (by Johnson x De Niro) stood out as a youngster under Emmelie Scholtens, finishing second in the Pavo Cup and winning bronze at the World Young Horse Championships. He sold to Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff in Germany and was briefly competed by Matthias Rath at international small tour level. He sustained a sport career ending injury. His offspring at Grand Prix level include Great Lady TC and Golden Dancer de la Fazenda.

Charmeur (by Florencio x Jazz) was highly decorated as a young horse. Under Emmelie Scholtens he won the Pavo Cup and with Madeleine Witte-Vrees he competed at international Grand Prix level. He was retired from sport due to an injury and in 2020 sold to Canada as a breeding stallion. He never stood up for stud there and owner MJ Proulx confirmed that the chestnut "has retired from breeding." The stallion sired Grand Prix horse Grand Voice and small tour horses Genua TC, Garmeur G, Charming Boy, Grand Charmeur.

Wynton Preferent

Canadian stallion keeper Proulx has more reason to celebrate as a second KWPN stallion of hers got decorated with the highest predicate, Preferent.

The preferent title is awarded to stallion who improves his offspring in movement and conformation. The offspring needs to be at least 11 years of age or older and have a sport index higher than 140 (with a reliability of 85%). For the preferent predicate it is important that a stallion especially improves the male offspring.

Wynton (by Jazz x Matador) won the 2008 Pavo Cup Finals, the 2008, 2009 and 2010 KWPN Stallion Competition, and competed at the 2008 and 2009 World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany, where he finished 4th and 7th. Madeleine Witte-Vrees took him to international Grand Prix level. Wynton has five licensed sons, including Hitmaker and Imposantos.  He was retired from sport due to an injury and sold to Canada in 2018.

"Wynton was first awarded the Keur predicate in 2018 before I purchased him and 4 years later he receives the highest honor he could possibly get. I am over the moon," said Proulx.

Wynton is the sixth dressage bred Preferent KWPN sire still alive today. He joins Johnson, Painted Black, Vivaldi, Negro and Rousseau.
