Newly independent professional Lena Waldmann has added three high profile horses to her string, including the nationally competed Grand Prix horse Belle de Carpie.

Waldmann recently made the move to independence, settling down to build her own business at her boyfriend, show jumping rider Felix Hassmann's yard.

Lena rose to fame in Germany as the head rider at Gestut Bonhomme in Werder.

The move to independence meant that Waldmann lost the ride on her most prolific rides, B-squad listed Grand Prix horse Fiderdance as well as Nurnberger Burgpokal and Louisdor Cup finalists Morricone and Grey Flanell.

Waldmann did not have to wait long for a new Grand Prix horse to join her ranks. She got the ride on Peter Brenske's Holsteiner mare Belle de Carpie. The 13-year old mare has had 8 different competition riders in her career so far:  Kim Jürgens, Katrin Hansen,  Jochen Vetters, Nathalie Westphal. In 2018 Juliane Brunkhorst took her to Grand Prix and showed her through July 2020. Then she moved Marcus Hermus, but in March 2021 returned to Brunkhorst. Two months later she moved to Kira Laura Soddemann, who had her for a year. Now Belle de Carpie is with Waldmann.

Also joining Belle de Carpie are Brenske's 6-year old Quality Time (by Quaterback x Sion), previously shown by Soddemann, and the 9-year old Oldenburg bred Diamond of Bippen (by Don Frederic x Al Martino), who was in training with Brunkhorst.

Waldmann now has a good string of horses to make a smooth progression on the sport scene as an independent rider.

Waldmann also took over the ride on Scarlett o’Hara, who was previously trained and shown by Kira Wegmann. The new duo will make its show debut in Wiesbaden this weekend.
