Dorothee Schneider will make her long-awaited come back with her number one in the barn, Showtime, at the World Cup qualifier in Basel (SUI) on 12 - 15 January 2023.
For the first time dressage has been added to the programme of the CHI Classics Basel, a well known international show jumping event. Basel is a new leg for the Western European League World Cup circuit.
The participants list for Basel is announced on the official website.
Schneider last competed the 16-year old Hanoverian Showtime (by Sandro Hit x Rotspon) internationally at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where they were 15th in the Kur to Music. They returned at the 2022 German Dressage Championships in Balve in June and won the Grand Prix and Special but withdrew from the Kur. Their announced CDI come back at the CDIO Aachen in June ended in a withdrawal before the Grand Prix.
Schneider and Showtime were first members on the German team at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, although niggling injuries have interrupted the gelding's presence on the team ever since. They returned at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam, where they experienced their career highlight with two individual silver medals and team gold.
Schneider announced Showtime's return to competition on social media in the autumn and said she would compete the horse before the end of 2022. The fans will have to week until the second week of January 2023 for Showtime.
