Dark Rousseau, McLaren, Lowlands Win 2023 KWPN Stallion Competition Finals

The 5-year old Dark Rousseau, the 6-year old McLaren, and th 7-year old Lowlands became the winners of the 2023 KWPN Stallion Competition Finals held at the KWPN stallion licensing in 's Hertogenbosch on 3 February 2023.

After three selection trials, where stallions earned points, the finals were ridden in Den Bosch. Points from the qualifiers and the finals were totalled to determine the winner.

L-level: Dark Rousseau

Kim Alting and Dark Rousseau (by Dettori x Rousseau) arrived in Den Bosch as high scorers on the leader board and went on to grab the overall victory. The stallion was a bit tense in the big indoor arena, but remained obedient and scored a total of 85 points with a 9 for trot.

Charlotte Fry and Nalegro (by Painted Black x Negro) landed second place overall after posting 87.4 points in the finals. The high score of the day was achieved by Femke de Laat on Network (by Just Wimphof x Negro) with 89.4 points, but they finished third in the overall ranking.

M-level: McLaren

Last year's L-level winner, McLaren (by Morricone x Sir Donnerhall) under Dinja van Liere recaptured the title in the M-level division this year. The drop dead gorgeous bay stallion scored the second best score of 88 points in Den Bosch, but the overall victory was theirs.

Van Liere posted the high score of the class on Mauro Turfhorst (by Zonik x Negro) with 92.6 points, but in the overall ranking they were the runners-up. The third place went to the Danish owned Blue Hors Santiano (by Sezuan x Romanov) who scored 85.2 points under Renate van Uytert.

Z-Level: Lowlands

With the withdrawal of Las Vegas from the finals, Dinja van Liere had open range to pilot Lowlands (by Millennium x Donnerball) to the victory as sole competitors left over in the class. Owned by the American Iron Spring Farm, Lowlands scored 88.8 points in Den Bosch.
