Danish FEI Dressage Pony Cake Royal Finds New Rider in Denmark

The internationally competed Danish FEI pony Cake Royal has found a new rider for the next chapter in his sport career. 

Cake Royal is an 12-year old German Riding Pony by Casino Royale K out of Buschhof  Dorte B (by Golden Dancer x Domino Dancing x Derbino). He is bred by Sabine Goldberg

Tackmann's Cake Royal - Cosmopolitan

The pony began his sport career in Germany and was licensed at the 2014 Holsteiner Pony Stallion Licensing, where he received the "breeding name" Cosmopolitan. 

He did not do a stallion performance test and ended being gelding to be focused on sport. His sport's name is Tackmann's Cake Royal. 

He was first competed in Germany as a 3-year old in 2014 by Wenke Kraus. she ride him to a third place in a young pony championships in Hanover. 

Three Danish Riders

Two years later, Cake Royal resurfaced in the national show ring in Denmark as a 5-year old under new owner Mathilde Kalstrup Jensen. She competed him nationally for two years until their international show debut in April 2018 at the CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland.  She further campaigned in Aalborg, Uggerhalne and Hagen, but did not get selected on the team. She was first reserve for the Nordic Baltic Championships and finished fourth at the 2018 Danish Pony Championships.

The chestnut sold to Danish pony rider Anna-Augusta Spang-Kildegaard in the summer of 2018 and made her debut on him in Denmark in November 2018. She rode one international with him, the 2019 CDI Aalborg, but nationally rode him through August 2020. They were 12th at the 2019 Danish Pony Championships.

Cake Royal then sold to Laura Hagerup, who premiered him in March 2021. Her CDI debut was in April 2022 at the CDI Sint-Truiden in Belgium and they also showed in Aalborg and at the Nordic Baltic Championships in Flyinge that year, where they won team gold and won the team and individual test but finished fourth in the kur.  In 2023 Hagerup and Cake Royal went for that team spot and showed in Exloo, Tolbert, and Hagen but ended up as first reserve. They competed in the CDI tour that was held during the European Pony Championships in Le Mans and were fourth in the Kur. They were 13th at the 2022 and 2023 Danish Pony Championships.

New Chapter

The 12-year old Cake Royal has now moved to his new owner and rider, Frida Roed Skov

"I’m so glad and happy to be taking over the reins from Laura," said Frida. "Looking forward to getting to know him better and seeing what the future holds. I love him already too much."

Laura added, "thank you is an empty word, but I simply just can’t thank you enough for everything. You made all my dreams come true, and so much more. You have taught me everything - when I got you I was only 11 years old, and couldn’t even get my legs over the saddle pad. I have never met such a happy pony, with such a big heart and personality. (...) Thank you for the best 3 years in my life."

Frida is a 14-year old pony rider who has already been showing Hilkens Cosmo (by Cosmopolitan x Danny Gold) at national level.
