Dutch Under 25 rider Milou Dees has joined the riding staff at Gestüt Sprehe in Germany. She will work under supervisor Sabine Rueben.
The 23-year old Dees announced the news on social media.
Dutch Youth Team Rider
Dees began her international dressage career on ponies in 2015 aboard the Welsh pony Mystery Dancer (by Veenstra's Promise x Bokkesprong Czardas). She competed her pony through 2016.
In 2017 she moved into the junior ranks with the now 14-year old KWPN gelding Francesco (by Florencio x Krack C). In 2018 they made it onto the Dutch team for the European Junior Riders Championships in Fontainebleau, where they won team gold and placed 8th in the Kur to Music.
She did not compete internationally in 2019 but returned to the scene in August 2020 as a young rider and returned on the team for the 2021 European Young Riders Championships in Oliva Nova, where they won team gold and got bronze in the Kur to Music finals. She also won bronze at the 2021 Dutch Young Riders Championships.
Another one year break from international competition followed and in 2023 they moved to Under 25 level and showed in Pilisjaszfalu and Kronenberg. This year she did Lier and Tolbert and won silver at the 2024 Dutch Undere 25 Championships.
Professional Rider
A year and a half ago, Dees accepted a professional rider's job at Arie Yom-Tov's stable Sport Pro Horses in Uden, The Netherlands, and competed young horses Space Oddity (by Santo Domingo x Laurentio) and Francois de la Serre (by Finnigan x Riccio) for him at CDI shows in 2023.
Ready for a change in scenery, Dees is moving to Germany to work at stallion station Sprehe.
"Coming week Ces (Francesco) and I will be moving to Germany to continue my career as a rider at Gestut Sprehe," she tool to Instagram. "Thank you Albert Sprehe and Sabine Rueben for this opportunity! I am much looking forward to my new adventure."
She will work alongside Italian U25 rider Beatrice Arturi and Sabine Rueben.
