German Under 25 Grand Prix rider Luca Collin has moved her base from Gestüt am Wiesengrund in Velbert to Haus Giesking.

The 22-year old Collin is establishing herself as a professional dressage rider and her family is in the process of purchasing the yard.

Luca Collin

Luca Collin made her break through as a youth rider aboard Descolari (by Desperados x Weltmeyer) in 2019.

In 2020 they won team gold and finished fifth and sixth individually at the European Young Riders Championships in Pilisjasfalu (HUN) and finished the season with the 2020 German Young Riders Champion's title.

In 2021, they won the Preis der Besten and team silver and individual bronze at the 2021 European Young Rider Championship in Oliva Nova, Spain. They renewed their German Young Riders Champion's title.

In 2022 the pair did not compete internationally, but showed nationally at small tour level between May 2022 and February 2023, but missed out on German team selection last year after finishing 11th in the Preis der Besten in Warendorf. Descolari sold as a schoolmaster to German pony rider Alessa Marie Maass.

Under 25

Luca Collin and Ferrero D
Collin has been trained by Jochen Bender, Isabell Werth, Christoph Koschel and most recently began working with Patrik Kittel for her transition to Under 25 level.

The family bought Bonamour, Fuhur and Ferrero D as Grand Prix schoolmasters The latter one proved to be the most successful match. They debuted at the CDI-U25 i Compiegne in May 2023, finished fourth at the 2023 German U25 Championships and were the runners-up in the Piaff Forderpreis finals. In 2024 they rode at the CDI Lier and Mannheim and were fourth and got kur bronze at the 2024 German U25 Championships.

Haus Giesking

Collin is now the most recent inhabitant of Haus Gieking, a historic property with a mote and equestrian facility.

The property was built at the beginning of the 14th century by farmers Johann and Else Gysekinck and then came into the hands of the Warendorp family of hereditary men from Münster. The estate was managed by serfs.

The property was passed down a long lineage of family members. In 1988, Haus Giesking was finally sold to Marianne and Rudolph Tecklenborg from Werne and it became the equestrian yard as it is known today, built for Rudolph's sons Markus and Bertram. Markus rode up to Grand Prix level, Bertram competed for Germany at the 1991 European Young Riders Championships in Cervia.

When the two sons quit riding, the property got rented out. The most renowned riders who had a base at the property were Patrik Kittel/Lyndal Oatley, Shruti Vora, Antonia Ramel,  Valerie von Hohenzollern-Brenske, and Marcus Hermes amongst others.

Haus Giesking
In January 2023 the main parts of Haus Giesking sold to Trakehner breeders Jürgen Altmiks and Stephanie Petersen of Gut Sölring in Sylt. Little over a year they decided to put their part of the property back on the market and the Collin family made a move.

Collin's New Base

Collin confirmed that her parents are securing Haus Giesking as her base. The yard is a stone's throw from trainer Patrik Kittel, who is at Eulenhof in Dulmen.

"As of September 1st 2024, we are buying the riding facility," Luca told Eurodressage. "That means my horses and I will move over there in the next two weeks. As of January 1st 2025 we are buying the rest of Gut Giesking. I am more than grateful to be able to live and work at an amazing place like this."

With her own property Luca can establish herself as a rider and trainer running her own company. "I'm super excited," she added.
