The DSP reserve licensing champion and Hanoverian bred Viva Vegas has been the most popular breeding stallion of 2024 with Danish warmblood breeders.
Each year the Danish warmblood society publishes the amount of coverings stallions have in their country on DWB mares.
The most used stallion in 2024 is Viva Vegas (by Viva Gold x Rock Forever x Florestan). He is bred by Annette and Simon Bürgers and owned by Blue Hors stud. He was discovered by Andreas Helgstrand at the 2023 DSP Stallion Licensing in Munich where the auction hammer price was 420,000 euro. A year later he sold the stallion to Blue Hors. Viva Vegas is also Oldenburg and Danish warmblood approved and became the winner of the Danish Warmblood autumn stallion performance test, scoring 892 points. Nanna Skodborg Merrald rode him to the 4-YO title at the 2024 Danish Young Horse Championships.
The runner-up is Hesselhoj Donkey Boy (by ERA Dancing Hit x Milan). The stallion has been an evergreen with Danish breeders, particularly as his offspring is proven their worth in sport. The stallion had an illustrious career in sport and then got tangled up in a legal drama concerning a sale, an injury and hiked sales prices at Helgstrand Dressage. In the end no sale happened and Norwegian Kristin Andresen reached a settlement. By standing him at stud he continues to make a good living for his owner.
The number three is another one of Helgstrand's stallions: Parero. The 5-year old KWPN stallion by Toto Jr x Negro x Matare). He was discovered by Helgstrand as a foal at the 2020 Midden-Nederland Online Foal Auction and purchased for 41,000 euro. Parero was first licensed in Oldenburg in January 2023 and a few weeks later he was licensed at the 2023 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch. He but did not do a performance test in Holland yet. In 2024 he was accepted by Danish warmblood. He sold to Australian Olympian Kristy Oatley in the summer of 2024.
