Horses.nl reported that the KWPN breeding stallion Dream Boy, co-owned by Glock Horse Performance Center, will be moving to Germany to stand at stud.

Dream Boy is a 17-year old Dutch warmblood stallion by Vivaldi out of Resia (by Ferro x Balzflug). He is bred by Tim Coomans.

Licensed Stallion

Dream Boy was licensed at the 2011 KWPN Stallion Licensing and scored 78,5 points in his stallion performance test.

He was later approved for Danish and Swedish warmblood and all major German studbooks.

Dream Boy made his mark in the breeding world, having sired licensed sons Dynamic Dream and Blue Hors Monte Carlo, as well as 20 more. In 2022 the KWPN society proclaimed him Keur stallion

Sport Career

The black was first trained and competed by Gerdine Maree. He finished fourth in the 2013 Pavo Cup Finals and 14th in the 2013 World Young Horse Championships finals in Verden. In 2014 he was second in the KWPN Stallion Competition and made an impact when he won bronze at the 2014 World Young Horse Championships in Verden.

In the winter of 2015-2016, Hans Peter Minderhoud received the ride on Dream Boy. In the summer of 2016 they won silver at the Dutch Small Tour Championships in Ermelo.

In June 2017 the late Gaston Glock bought an ownership share in the stallion from co-owners Tim Coomans, Jacques Maree and Stable Brinkman. In 2018 Dream Boy made his Grand Prix debut at the CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland. His talent as a future Dutch team horse was spotted and he received NOP status. The pair went on to represent The Netherlands at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, where they won team silver and finished 20th in the Special (72.052%). At the 2019 World Cup Finals they were 10th and at the 2019 European Championships they got team silver again and landed 9th place in the Kur to Music (81.546%).  They won silver at Dutch Dressage Championships in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Minderhoud rode his second Olympic Games in Tokyo on Dream Boy, placing 12th in the Kur to Music (after Johnson took him to Rio 2016). Six weeks later Dream Boy also competed at the 2021 European Championships in Hagen, and ranked 13th in the Special with 73.632% but was withdrawn from the Kur.

In 2022 the pair tried qualifying for the Dutch team for the World Championships but had to withdraw during the selection trials in the spring due to an injury. He returned to competition at the 2023 CDI-W Amsterdam and two months later the CDI-W 's Hertogenbosch. It was the combination's last show.

Dream Boy's retirement from sport was officially announced at the start of 2024. He continued to stand up for stud.

Move to Germany

With the gradual closure of the Glock Horse Performance Center, the Glock horses have been finding new locations. It has been reported that a group of retired horses has moved to Austria, but two active sport horses (Toto Jr, Taminiau) continue to tick along at horse shows.

Horses.nl reported today that Dream Boy, who is co-owned by Glock with three Dutch partners (Koen Brinkman, Tim Coomans, Jacques Maree), moved to Gerd Sosath's stallion station in Germany to stand up for stud.

"The reason why we moved Dream Boy to Germany is because there is a lot of demand from there," Brinkman told Horses.nl. "Last year we already collaborated with Hof Sosath, but the shipping of the semen is a hassle and brings extra costs. That's why the idea arose to stand him there for the season."

No announcement has been made about the future plans with Johnson, who is also co-owned with Dutch partners.
